La Goblin y la cocina son mis temas favoritos. Que mejor si se trata de un dibujo que incluya a ambos. Goblin Chef pertenece al juego de cartas en línea #Splinterlands y es del tipo tierra. Cuando salió este personaje me dió curiosidad por verlo y ver lo que hace durante el juego. Es un arquerito muy querido cuando me toca batallar.
Goblins and cooking are my favorite themes. What could be better than a drawing that includes both?. Goblin Chef belongs to the online card game #Splinterlands and is of the earth type. When this character came out, I was curious to see him and find out what he does during the game. He's a very beloved little archer when it's my turn to battle.

Inicié haciendo trazos a lápiz de lo que quería plasmar. Luego, pinté el fondo de amarillos, porque puse como centro del dibujo el fuego y su iluminación en la oscuridad del bosque. Aproveché ponerle el rostro de amarillo, como para que se sintiese la iluminación del fuego.
I started by sketching what I wanted to capture in pencil. Then, I painted the background yellow, because I placed the fire and its illumination in the darkness of the forest at the center of the drawing. I took advantage of this to paint the face yellow, so that the illumination of the fire could be perceived.
Como el personaje es del tipo tierra, tenía que habitar en el bosque. Por eso, pinté los troncos de madera y árboles. Aquí hice la diferencia entre los árboles vivos (verdes) y los árboles muertos o madera (marrón). En los bosques hay bastante humedad, por eso se pueden ver varios árboles llenos de musgo, quienes les dan un aspecto verdoso.
As the character is an earth type, so he had to live in the forest. That's why I painted the tree trunks and trees. Here, I made a distinction between living trees (green) and dead trees or wood (brown). Forests are quite humid, so you can see many trees covered in moss, which gives them a greenish appearance.
En esta parte tocaba resaltar más el fondo, es decir intensificar las partes donde irían las luces y sombras, utilizando sus colores complementarios para los árboles y colores oscuros para la leña. Quise que el fondo tuviese un borde, así como salido de un cuento infantil, jaja. Por un momento me dieron ganas de hacer que el fondo del bosque fuese más oscuro, porque al tratarse de un Goblin, estos andan escondidos de la gente, es decir en lugares ocultos del bosque...Luego recordé que el cocinar es un acto de compartir y por eso no debería estar tan oculto. Además, el fuego de la cocina estaba iluminando la escena principal.
In this part, I wanted to highlight the background more, that is, intensify the areas where the lights and shadows would go, using complementary colors for the trees and dark colors for the firewood. I wanted the background to have a border, like something out of a children's story, jaja. For a moment, I felt like making the forest background darker, because goblins hide from people, that is, in hidden places in the forest. Then I remembered that cooking is an act of sharing and therefore should not be so hidden. Besides, the fire in the kitchen was illuminating the main scene.
Ahora, solo faltaba pintar al protagonista (yehhh). Esta parte es la que más me divierte, porque define la característica que tendrá el personaje. Ya sea desde la posición en que se encuentre, su ropa o los colores que lleva en general. Comencé pintando el gorrito del chef y el mandil. Seguido de la piel, para esto combiné los colores amarillo, anaranjado claro y marrón claro. Luego pinté los ojos de amarillo y le agregué unas ligeras mejillas rosadas. En la imagen de referencia, Goblin chef tiene cabello plomo, dando a entender que es un Goblin mayor, creo. Y como mi estilo es dibujar a los personajes versión niño, este Goblin llevaría cabello plomo oscuro al igual que sus cejas. También le agregué una ligera sonrisa, invitándote a saborear su comida. La parte más divertida para mí fue darle color al guiso o comida que había dentro del caldero. Obtener esa tonalidad de verde tipo fosforescente fue lo que llamó mi atención al momento de elegir este personaje. Mas aún, si tiene un huecito en su interior.
Now, all that was left was to paint the main character (yeah!). This part is the most fun for me, because it defines the characteristic that the character will have. Whether it's from the position they're in, their clothes, or the colors they wear in general. I started by painting the chef's hat and smock. Next, I painted the skin, combining yellow, light orange, and light brown colors. Then I painted the eyes yellow and added some light pink cheeks. In the reference image, Goblin Chef has gray hair, implying that he is an older Goblin, I think. And since my style is to draw child versions of characters, this Goblin would have dark gray hair, just like his eyebrows. I also added a slight smile, inviting you to taste his food. The most fun part for me was coloring the stew or food inside the cauldron. Getting that phosphorescent green hue was what caught my attention when choosing this character. Even more so if it has a little hole inside.
El caldero u ollón como le decimos aquí (jaja), si lo pinté de color negro. Intensifiqué las partes donde iría las sombras y las partes donde llevaría brillo. Esto para darle volumen al caldero. Las partes donde son brillosas las pinté ligeramente de color amarillo, para que resalte la iluminación del fuego. Luego tocó darle color al fuego, para esto utilicé amarillo y dos tonos distintos de anaranjado. También le agregué azul en las partes donde nace el fuego. Por último, tomé mi plumón de color blanco para agregarle brillo y así el dibujo tenga vida. El guiso o la comida verde fosforescente llevaba varios brillos, tanto en la comida dentro del caldero y en el cucharón. También en la mancha que lleva en su gorrito de chef y el brillo de sus ojos.
The cauldron, or pot as we call it here (jaja), I painted black. I intensified the parts where the shadows would go and the parts where there would be shine. This was to give the cauldron volume. I painted the shiny parts lightly with yellow to highlight the light from the fire. Then it was time to color the fire. For this, I used yellow and two different shades of orange. I also added blue to the parts where the fire originates. Finally, I took my white marker to add shine and bring the drawing to life. The stew or fluorescent green food had several shiny spots, both in the food inside the cauldron and on the ladle. There were also shiny spots on the stain on his chef's hat and in his eyes.
Este dibujo lo hice en cartulina blanca, utilicé colores Goldfaber y para los detalles utilicé lápiz portamina 2B y Gelly roll número 10.
I drew this on white cardstock, using Goldfaber colors, and for the details I used a 2B pencil and Gelly Roll number 10.
