This week's challenge of the Life Stories community is to post about one's hobby's and one of those is writing. This hobby I get to utilize even more now thanks to Hive. And then, there's another hobby that I get to enjoy ever since I can remember, which is dancing.
Even before I can remember I have loved this art form, according to my family who has given me a pet name of a former traditional Javanese dancer, which I didn't like because I didn't know the meaning behind it back then. Now I appreciate it of course and writing about it now, makes me realize that I should definitely look more into it.
Now back to this hobby of mine. Because I used to be so lively and energetic and according to my mom I danced - or rather I moved - a lot, she had decided to put me in dance class. I was so ecstatic because it turned out to be a "classical" ballet school. I was in love with tutus ever since I've seen one of the Police Academy movies. Don't remember why that's my first recollection of ballet though 😅.
Nowadays, I don't attend the ballet school anymore, but that doesn't mean I've stopped dancing. I still get to express my feelings, thoughts, emotions and/or tell a story through movement of my body. Especially at home when I need to work through some things, that I can't yet explain through words or just when I need to blow off steam.
I am grateful to my parents that they've decided to put me in classical ballet classes, because there I've learned how to be resilient, how working hard and putting in the effort pays off in seeing the growth and results in myself. I've also learned to express myself and contrary to popular belief, it's easier for me to learn new dance styles. Furthermore, I have an assortment of poses at my disposal, whenever I want to take pictures 😅.
Well that's it for one of my hobby's. What is/are yours? If you would like to participate in this life story movement, read more about in this post:
