My second tournament on the blockchain team has passed, and although it wasn't as crowded, I enjoyed it.
Also, I played a variant that I didn't think was possible online, which is Chess960.
Or, as I often call it, "chess for madmen," because here we simply ruin all opening theory if we focus solely on constantly improving our pieces.
In fact, that was the logic behind my entry into this tournament. And although I won some games, I think I lost most of them quite resoundingly.
One game against a user who I believe is at the master level really caught my attention, starting with the fact that everything was so confusing at the beginning. And somehow I won a piece.
I later lost it in the stupidest way possible, but at this point in the game, I feel like this variant is much more like regular chess.
By the time all the pieces come out, I think we can play a slightly more traditional style of chess, and we can even double the pieces a bit. Rules
I focused too much on exploiting my early advantage and couldn't connect some points very well, but luckily my opponent was gradually running out of time, so I was able to secure my victory more and more.
The game ended with a good finish after promoting a queen. It was just a simple endgame where you have to constantly check the king and look for ways to trap the enemy rook.
I finished second in the tournament. There weren't many players, but I think I played about three good games where I could have won.
