1. e4
I usually do not play 1. e4, but my opponent usually playes the Scandinavian Defense, and I had some small preparation I wanted to play, but that did not happen in the game, so I had a to dig back a little back since this opening I have not played for a long time.
1.- e5 2. Nc3 Nf6
So I decided to play the Vienna game, I have not played this for a long time, but I tend to play the gambit when I play this.
3. f4 d6
This is a passive way to play against this gambit, the better way is the active 3.- d5
4. Nf3 Bg4 5. Bc4 Bxf3
This move goes away from previously played games according to the opening explorer on lichess, might be games not in there, but I don't think this move is particularly good. Giving up the bishop without provocation is usually a bad idea, here it is also bad since the white queen get's active on a nice position
6. Qxf3 exf4
Here black gave up his central influence and allows white to take the entire center for himself.
7. d4 Nc6 8. Bb5 Nd7 9. Ne2 Be7 10. Bxf4 O-O
White has now the center, and good development, only thing is the white king has not castled, but I was not sure where I should castle. So instead I decided to start an assault against the black king with the pawn thrust h2-h4
11. h4 a6 12. Bd3 Nb4 13. Kd2 Nxd3 14. Kxd3 Qc8
Funny I did not castle, but I felt that my king would be pretty safe.
With Qc8 black removes pressure from my pawn on h4 and allows me much more leeway with regards to the continuation that I played in the game.
15. Ng3 g6 16. Bh6 Re8 17. h5 Nf6 18. hxg6 fxg6
My decision now I kind of like even though probably Raf1 is a better move, but my move allows me to do some other things that might be interesting, for one it allows me to double rooks on the h-file. It also allows me to use the rook on the 4th rank to add pressure on the g-file or f-file.
19. Rh4 Qe6 20. Rah1 Nd7 21. Rg4 Bf8 22. Nf5 Bxh6 23. Rxh6
This is a bit of a mistake, since he could equalize with Nf6, but I did not figure this out during the game, this is the computers crushing power of calculation saying so, it does however look scary initially g6 could be ripe for sacrifices, but then the computer already worked out that this is not working.
23.- Rf8 24. Rxh7 Rxf5 25. exf5
His last few moves was complete desperation, and after I took on f5 he resigned.
