“Attack! Always Attack!”

This rule of Adolf Anderssen prove itself a bit questionable through history. Just remember one of his namesakes who threw everything in the attack. But let’s stick to the chess. In the semifinals of the strongest chess tournament in the history of the World (which for the first time in history pays part of the prize in bitcoin) we had a novelty which I bet you haven’t heard before – A Mosquito Attack! Don’t ask the moves to start with, because for it you have to have a squadron of trained ninja-mosquitoes ready to mercilessly attack your opponent! Ian Nepomniachtchi was exposed to such an attack on the first day of the semifinals:

Ово правило Адолфа Андерсона показало се у извесној мери спорним кроз историју. Сетите се само једног његовог имењака који је све бацио у напад. Држимо се ипак шаха. У полуфиналу најјачег турнира у историји света (који први пут у историји исплаћује део награде у биткоину) видели смо новитет за који, кладим се, још нисте чули – Комарац напад! Не питајте којим потезима почиње, јер за њега морате имати ескадрилу обучених нинџа-комараца спремних да немилосрдно нападну вашег противника! Баш таквом нападу био је изложен Јан Непомнијашчи првог дана полуфинала:

That is why on the second day of the semifinals, he was forced to attack Wesley So(lid)’s walls. Couldn’t do the break. His luck finally left him today…

Зато је другог дана полуфинала био принуђен да напада на чврсте зидине Веслија Соа. Није успео. Срећа га је данас напустила…

One can’t help but think: “Are they fu*king with the organizers?” Nooo, big money is at stake, including the valuable one – 2.1825 Bitcoin. They wouldn’t… would they? Carlsen certainly wouldn’t, since he won two games on the second day and thus secured the third final of the Meltwater Tour of the Chess Champions against Wesley So, the only undefeated player in this super tournament…

Човек не може а да не помисли: ‘Јел се они то за*ебавају са организаторима?’ Неее, ипак су велике паре у питању, међу којима и 2,1825 Биткоина. Не би ваљда они… ? Карлсен свакако не би, пошто је другог дана добио две партије и тиме обезбедио треће финале на Мелтвотеровој турнеји шампиона против Веслија Соа, јединог непораженог играча на овом супертурниру…

Final plot twist

In the previous two finals, Wesley So won both! He was better in the Skilling Open (November 14th – 21st 2020) and the Opera Euro Rapid (February 6th – 14th 2021). And that promises an exciting match. So Wesley knows how to play against Magnus, he doesn’t have a complex and if he is given the slightest chance, he will undoubtedly use it. As I write this, the first day of the finals is already over. Let’s look at the results:

У оба претходна два финала Весли Со је добио! Био је бољи на Скилинг Опену (14.–21. новембар 2020.) и на Опера Еуро Рапиду (6.–14. фебруар 2021.) А то обећава неизвесну борбу. Весли дакле уме да игра против Магнуса, нема комплекс и ако му се пружи и најмања шанса, несумњиво ће је искористити. Док ово пишем, први дан финала већ је завршен. Да погледамо резултате:
