After my first experience playing chess last Saturday, I feel like adding chess to my hobbies, but my challenge for now is going for more training. I don't know if it's something I can learn virtually and learn it very well, but all the same, I will figure out how I can learn more because, sincerely, I loved my first ever experience with chess😃.
It was unplanned, by the way. I only visited my son's school for parents PTA meetings, but I was so early that, on getting there, I found other parents playing different games, including chess, at the school compound. I was like, Wow, what an opportunity to lay my hands on chess.

I had heard a lot about chess, especially here on hive. Sometimes, when I am chatting with my fellow hivers on the Neoxian City Discord server, they will always mention tournaments, and when I inquired further, I discovered that chess is an interesting game that requires brain work. Realizing that chess requires lots of thinking made me love the game because I love exercising my brain. What I did after discovering chess was convince my six-year-old son to join the chess club at his school. So since September last year, my son has been playing chess in school, and he kept telling me how he needs to think smartly before he can win his opponent. I think he is loving the game as well, and I have a plan to support him in learning more as he continues to grow, as long as he continues to have interest in the game.
Playing the game on that day, I started by learning the name and role of each chess piece being moved on a chessboard. According to my instructor, chess is a game of strategy where you think three steps ahead to win over your opponent. He went further to show me the hook, the bishop, the queen, and the king and their respective movements.
As a beginner, he removed the kings and the other high-ranking chess pieces while we played with only the basics. My knowledge of draft games was a bit helpful as I navigated through the game of chess. My instructor was patient enough to explain to me all I needed to know as a newbie to chess, and for sure, I impressed him😃. After the first round of the game, he inquired to know the name of my son in the chess club, as he is the school chess instructor. When I told him, he screamed and said,Your son is very good with the game, and he has seen the source, hehehehe.

Obviously, once I am done learning this game, my son will be my first opponent at home, and I hope he won't win against me much as he already has a great knowledge of the game at age 6, but sincerely, I will prefer to play with those who can't win against me😅
