Hello everyone ✨
I’m super excited to be here and officially kick off my Hive journey! Huge shoutout to my awesome friend @samostically for introducing me to this buzzing platform—he’s been a total legend in helping me get started. 🙌
Also, big thanks to @stayoutoftherz for helping me set up my account like a pro. And guess what? I wouldn’t even be able to make this post without the RC boost from the amazing @aliento – you rock! 🚀
I can already feel the good vibes here, and I’m looking forward to connecting with all you inspiring people, learning tons, and having some fun along the way. Let’s do this! 🎉💬💡
Introduction about me 😃😀
Hey everyone! I’m Clinton — an architecture student at Yaba College of Technology. When I first stepped into this world of design and deadlines, it all felt like a smooth game… until the real architectural grind kicked in! 😅 Things definitely got tougher along the way, but I’ve learned to stay focused, adapt like a pro, and keep my grades up.
Outside the studio, I’m a passionate chess player — though I’ve had to hit pause on the game now and then to keep up with the intense demands of school. Juggling both has been no easy feat, but I’m all in for this journey and fully committed to crossing the finish line with pride. Let’s just say… it’s checkmate for excuses. 🏛️♟️
"It All Started with a Dream to Travel — and a Knight I Couldn't Move Right "
My chess journey kicked off back in 2014 — I knew how the pieces moved (well… except the knight gave me serious headaches 😅), and that was about it. I wasn’t really into it until I heard about the PWC chess tournament and the chance to travel abroad just by playing chess. That’s when things got real. Big shoutout to Coach Boyo Paul, my first chess instructor, whose goal was to uncover young talents — mission accomplished!
With the dream of winning that tournament and hopping on a plane, I became obsessed. I played anyone and everyone — friends, computers, even my coach. I was hungry to improve and determined to master the game.
At first, my parents didn’t exactly love how much time I was spending on chess (understandable… it was a lot 😅). But everything changed after I started racking up wins in tournaments. That was the turning point. Suddenly, they saw what I saw — that chess wasn’t just a game, it was a gateway to real opportunities.
Some of the most defining moments of my chess career
Securing 2nd place in the U-2000 category at the 2024 South West Chess Championship, competing against some of the strongest players in the country.
Achieving a top-5 finish in the Masters category at the 2024 National Chess Championship.
Placing in the top 3 at the 2021 National Chess in Championship—while the outcome wasn’t what I had hoped for, the experience played a key role in my development as a player.

No matter the challenges ahead, I remain unwavering in my commitment. I will never give up until I reach the highest ranks in both the game of chess and in my discipline of architecture. For me, mastery is not just a goal—it’s a lifelong pursuit.
