Hey chess players,
Welcome back to my blog where I talk about my gaming experience and this time I will be talking about how I tried to get to 2100 in blitz.
Lately, my obsession with chess has become stronger than I anticipated, I see myself wanting to play more games just to see how far I go on the Elo ratings. This time it turns out to be 2100 that's my target.
Although my peak is 2142, I thought it would be easy to get back to that rating again, but it isn't easy anymore. When I started playing at first, I noticed that the rating points I got were bigger but after a while, it wasn't the same, that's why I was able to get to the 2142 rating.
My First Game
I have begun to enjoy playing setups like this with my queen's pawn out and bishop on f4 as fast as possible. Lichess calls it the Jobava London system but I enjoy playing it more because of how simple it is to remember the moves. Just push your pawn, bring out your knight, and then bring out your bishop as well.
This is where my opponent fell for my trick. I moved my bishop away because I saw both my queen and rook would be attacking black's rook if he captures the pawns.
Luckily for me, he did. He fell for the trick and I gained a free rook. Afterwards, it was easy to win since my opponent had fewer pieces compared to mine. Then checkmate to end the game excited me because I thought it was a check, not knowing it was a checkmate.
My Second Game
In a desperate attempt to checkmate before my time drops, I fell for a stalemate trick. I didn't see that after promoting to a queen, my opponent's king will be trapped in the middle without any check, causing the game to end in a draw. Now I see why chess can get so emotional for people who play the game.
My Third Game
This one thing I like to do when playing chess, experimenting with ideas that pop into my head. I decided to go for the knight check because I felt there would be a strong attack that comes next after my opponent captures back with their pawn or knight.
Although I got the ideal position I had in mind, I blew it all away and thanks to being low on time. My time moves faster than I expect or maybe I just think too much when playing.
When I checked the game out, this is where I got it all wrong. I captured with the wrong piece. Instead of using the queen, I went to capture with the rook and that allowed my opponent's king to run away.
After the third game, my lunch break was over, so I had to get back to work but I would be playing more later on as I'm still attempting to get to 2100 Elo rating on Lichess.
See you in the next game.
