Dear chess fans,
yesterday the 7th round of S12 was played with 24 participants.
@jaki01 could win his third tournament in a row (where he was participating). Only three players (@jaki01, @sawko and @tungphong) have done this in the past, but at that time there was much less competition. So this is quite an achievement! Three points behind was runner-up @sawko, followed by @eniolw as third. Congratulations to All!
Despite a decent tournament performance of 2205 I again could not make it in the Top10 which shows how strong the tournament became compared to a year ago. So the average rating of "only" 1796 is a little misleading. At least I was able to defeat the winner @jaki01 in a game full of blunders:
Black to move and win. What was here the fastest way I could end the game?

All players with only one participation (37!) have no chances anymore to make it into the final ranking (50% rule) and thus were kicked out.
The rules you can look up in the S12 announcement post.
3 rounds to go and still no changes in the top 3 ranks. Only a technical failure can prevent @sawko from winning a sixth season!
As you may have noticed, the standings table shrank considerably. From 64 players totally participating (including the new ones of yesterday) only 27 max. will be able to win a price. This is much lower than in S10 (40) but also due to the stricter rules (50% participation requirement) which should encourage regular participation.
See you all next week - and keep practicing!
