Anyone believe in weird coincidences being...just coincidences or do you sometimes think that the universe conspires for things to happen?
Over the weekend on the way to camping we stopped off for fuel at a filling station at a well known spot that people flock to as a midpoint between various out-of-the-way places.
When I was at the little convenience store I suddenly heard my name. I whirled round and could not believe my eyes at seeing a friend of mine that I studied with 20 years ago. I haven't seen for her for about 3 years and even though we live in the same city now, she found me at the fuel stop in almost the middle of nowhere. It was such an amazing surprise and I got to see her husband and daughter (who's now a freaking teenager) who I can remember when she could barely speak let alone walk. Time flies yo.
Then today I was at the doctor and went out to get something from my car when a lady and her mom stopped alongside me for directions. After giving them directions, I looked at the woman and the words "I know you from somewhere" fell out of my mouth before I could place her. Her mom started asking us where we could know each other from and I said that long ago I studied at XYZ university and she then went "oh my gosh, yes!" She was in the same class as me and the friend I saw on Friday!
We chatted for a while and turns out she lives down the road from me. Two people from 20 years ago within days of each other? Weird. But a good kind of weird. Perhaps it's time for a reunion 🤣
After that when I left the doctor's office an elderly lady with a cane ushered me over and asked if I could help her across the road as she couldn't see so well and it was a busy street. She reminded me so much of my mom it was crazy!
"Of course, it would be my pleasure". I hooked my arm into hers and watched for the traffic, then we were on our way when we found a good gap. When we got to the other side she told me that she's so grateful. She's 88 but didn't look a day older than 60. She had a vibrance about her. She told me that she loves life and there's someone watching over her and over me too, then gave me a big hug and we parted ways. What a lovely lady. I hope she has many more years ahead and that she is helped across many more roads in the future.
It was a good day for good deeds, even with having to wait a long while at the doctor, it was totally worth it.
How was your day?
