The photos are from last month when I met up with a friend from our university days in Ueno.
After eating at a smoke-dining café near Keisei Ueno Station, we strolled around Ueno Onshi Park. It was a rainy day, so we walked under umbrellas, but since we hadn’t seen each other in years, parting after just lunch felt reluctant. From the café’s window, we could see Shinobazu Pond, though the lotus flowers hadn’t bloomed yet.
We talked about her work, I talked about what I've been up to, and we talked about personal defined contribution pension plans, tax-exempt small investment plans, and the House of Councillors election...and yes, we laughed when we discovered that we were on the same YouTube channel that we had recently started watching. Osho Taigu's Heart of Buddha 😂.

When we talked about investing in stocks, I thought for a moment about talking about Bitcoin, but I swallowed my words. No one around me was talking about cryptocurrency yet, and that's exactly why I felt that if I talked about HIVE, people would think it was a scam or a network business. I guess Japanese people don't like to talk about money in the first place, so maybe everyone actually has some in secret, though... I wonder? No, I still don't think they have it.
About a month has passed since then. I heard that the lotus flowers at Shinobazu Pond are now in full bloom. I was supposed to go see them today, but it was too hot to leave the house. I hope to visit the pond sometime during this three-day weekend and send my friend some lotus photos.

写真は先月、上野で大学時代の友達と会った時のものです。
京成上野駅付近のスモークダイニングカフェでご飯を食べた後、上野恩賜公園の周りを少し散策しました。雨の強い日だったので傘を差しての散歩ではありましたが、数年ぶりに会えた友達とランチだけで解散するのは名残惜しかったからです。カフェの窓からは不忍池が見えましたが、まだ蓮の花は咲いていませんでした。
彼女の仕事の話を聞き、私も近況を話し、iDeCoやNISA、参議院選の話なんかもして・・・そうそう、最近観るようになったYouTubeチャンネルが一緒だったのには笑いました。大愚和尚の一問一答/Osho Taigu’s Heart of Buddhaです😂

株の話になった時、ビットコインの話もしてみようかなと一瞬思ったのですが、呑み込んでしまいました。私の周囲では暗号資産の話をしている人はまだおらず、それこそHIVEの話なんかしたら詐欺だとかネットワークビジネスだとか思われそうで。日本人はそもそもお金の話をしたがらないので、実はみんな、こっそり持っていたりするのかもしれませんが・・・どうなのかな？いや、やっぱり持っていない気がする。
あれから約一ヶ月。ちょうど今、不忍池の蓮が見頃を迎えているそうです。本当は今日見に行く予定だったのが、暑すぎて家を出られませんでした。３連休のどこかで不忍池を訪れて、彼女に蓮の写真を送ってあげたいです。
