It's frustrating to watch an anime, fall in love with it, and discover that it's still being broadcast, so there are still a few episodes left before the current season ends. This is happening to me with several anime series I'm watching, which has kept me away from the community, but a few days ago, while I was talking to my son and we were looking for something to watch, he told me he wanted to watch a specific anime, so we started watching it together. I didn't have high expectations, but I wanted to share it with him, so I started watching it and ended up hooked on:
Mashle: Muscles and Magic
This anime, based on the manga of the same name, focuses on the life of a young man named Mash Burnedead, who is extremely strong and was born into a world where magic is everything and the laws that govern this world dictate that anyone born without magic must die, so his father keeps him hidden.
One day, driven by hunger, he disobeys his father and goes to the city, a place his father, for obvious reasons, has forbidden him to go. There, they discover that he is a human without magic, as he has no lines on his face (magic mark), unlike all magicians.
This marks the beginning of a change in the young man's life, as he accepts a challenge to attend a magic school and become a “Divine Enlightened One,” all for the sole purpose of getting the police to leave him and his father alone.
As the anime progresses, we see how the protagonist makes friends with Finn Ames (his roommate), Lance Crown (a wizard with two lines on his face), who is first his rival and then his friend, Lemon Irvine, who is in love with Mash, and Dot Barrett, a romantic who is first Mash's rival and then becomes his friend.
This young man immediately catches the attention of the director of the prestigious Easton Academy of Magic, Wahlberg Baigan, who, from the moment he sees him, notices that he is different and seeks a way to get him admitted to the school.
This anime has a huge number of funny moments, mixed with others where Mash stands out as he makes his way in the magical world with his sincere personality, winning over those around him because he is very noble and hates injustice, constantly defending those who are disadvantaged or threatened.
Now, while watching the anime, I couldn't help but make comparisons with the Harry Potter saga. For example, the academy is a boarding school and has houses, in this case only three instead of four, the uniforms are similar, the headmaster's suit and appearance, among other things, but without a doubt, with its omnipresent humor, it would be a parody of the genre, reinforced by the fact that the protagonist cannot use magic at all, so he solves everything with determination and brute force.
But even though it is full of humor, it has unique elements that make it interesting, such as the categories among wizards based on having two or three lines on their faces, the personal magic of each wizard, and a villain who turns out to be the protagonist's father and who has used forbidden magic, giving it a unique touch.
As for the animation, it's not a work of art, but it's enjoyable and there are details that add to the battles, such as when Dot and Lance turn into babies.
So far, there are only two seasons of this anime, and the opening of the second season is particularly catchy, so I'm now eagerly awaiting the third season in July 2025.
So if you want to see a different kind of magical anime, full of humor and epic battles, Mashle: Muscles and Magic is the one for you.

Es desesperante ver un anime, enamorarte y descubrir que está en plena emisión por lo que todavía faltan unos cuantos capítulos para que finalice su actual temporada, eso me está ocurriendo con varios animes que estoy viendo, lo que me ha mantenido alejada de la comunidad, pero hace unos días mientras conversaba con mi hijo y buscábamos que ver me dijo que deseaba ver un anime en específico, por lo que comenzamos a verlo juntos, yo sin muchas exceptivas, pero con ganas de compartir con él comencé a verlo y termine enganchada con:
Mashle: Muscles and Magic
Este anime basado en el manga del mismo nombre se centra en la vida de un joven llamado Mash Burnedead, quien es exageradamente fuerte, quien ha nacido en un mundo en el que la magia lo es todo y las leyes que imperan en este mundo dictan que todo aquel que nazca sin magia debe morir, por lo que su padre lo mantiene oculto.
Un día, por hambre, desobedece a su padre y va a la ciudad, un lugar al cual su padre, por razones obvias, le tiene prohibido ir. Allí descubren que es un humano sin magia, ya que no tiene ninguna línea en su rostro (marca mágica), como todos los magos.
Allí comienza un cambio en la vida del joven, ya que acepta un reto de asistir a una escuela mágica y convertirse en "Iluminado Divino", todo con el único propósito de que la policía deje en paz tanto a él como a su padre.
A media que avanza el anime vemos como el protagonista va haciéndose de amigos, Finn Ames (compañero de habitación), Lance Crown (mago con dos lineasen su rostro) primero rival, luego amigo, Lemon Irvine, quien está enamorada de Mash, Dot Barrett un enamoradizo que primero tiene rivalidad con Mash y luego se convierte en su amigo
Este joven logra llamar de inmediato la atención del director de la prestigiosa Academia de Magia Easton, Wahlberg Baigan, quien desde que lo ve nota que es diferente y busca la manera de que sea admitido en la escuela.
Este anime tiene una cantidad enorme de momentos graciosos, los que se mezclan con otros donde se destaca como Mash se abre paso en el mundo mágico con su personalidad sincera, con la cual logra ganarse a quienes le rodean porque es muy noble y detesta la injusticia, por lo que defiende de manera constante a los que están en desventaja o se ven amenazados.
Ahora bien, mientras veía el anime no pude evitar hacer comparaciones con la saga de Harry Potter, por ejemplo, la academia es un internado y tiene casas en este caso solo tres en lugar de cuatro, los uniformes son similares, el traje y aspecto de director, entre otros, pero sin duda con su omnipresente humor sería una parodia al género, reforzada por el hecho de que el protagonista no pueda usar magia, pero para nada, por lo que resuelve todo con determinación y fuerza bruta.
Pero aún llena de humor, tiene elementos únicos que lo hacen interesante, como las categorías entre magos al tener un dos o tres líneas en su rostro, la magia personal de cada mago y un villano que resulta ser el padre de protagonista y que ha usado magia prohibida, por lo que tiene un toque único.
En cuanto a animación, no es una obra de arte, pero es disfrutable y hay detalles que le dan su plus en las batallas, como por ejemplo cuando Dot y Lance se convierten en bebes.
Hasta ahora solo hay dos temporadas de este anime y particularmente el opening de su segunda temporada es muy pegajoso, así que ahora espero con ansias su tercera temporada en julio de este 2025.
Así que si quiere ver un anime mágico diferente, lleno de humor y batallas épicas, Mashle: Muscles and Magic es el indicado.
