Si de animes de culto se trata, no podemos dejar de lado a nuestro querido amigo Ranma Saotome, el mismo que al caerle agua fría sobre si se transforma en una bella pelirroja.

When it comes to cult anime, we can't leave out our dear friend Ranma Saotome, who, when cold water is poured on him, transforms into a beautiful redhead.

Este anime inspirado en el manga del mismo nombre “Ranma ½” de la creadora Rumiko Takahashi, fue estrenado en el año 1987 mientras que el anime se estrenó dos años más tarde 1989.

This anime, inspired by the manga of the same name, "Ranma ½" by creator Rumiko Takahashi, was released in 1987, while the anime premiered two years later in 1989.

Un poco de la trama/A little bit about the plot

Cómo de seguro ya conoces este anime y manga, reflejaré solo lo principal, ya que de seguro conoces mucho acerca de esto.

As you are probably already familiar with this anime and manga, I will only reflect on the main points, since you surely know a lot about it.

Ranma Saotome es hijo de Genma Saotome y pasan sus días en entrenamientos de artes marciales para ser el mejor de todos. En su afán de la perfección, Genma, lleva a Ranma a los estanques de Jusenkyo en China, sin siquiera saber que estos estanques guardan diversas maldiciones.

Ranma Saotome is the son of Genma Saotome, and they spend their days training in martial arts to be the best of all. In his quest for perfection, Genma takes Ranma to the Jusenkyo ponds in China, without even knowing that these ponds hold various curses.

En medio de este entrenamiento sobre palos de bambú, Genma es el primero en caer, se sumerge siendo hombre, sin embargo emerge siendo un gran panda. Ante el asombro de su hijo continúan el entrenamiento, y mediante un descuido Ranma cae en el estanque de la chica ahogada.

In the midst of this training on bamboo sticks, Genma is the first to fall, submerging himself as a man, but emerging as a giant panda. To his son's amazement, they continue their training, and through a careless mistake, Ranma falls into the pond of the drowned girl.

Pareciera hasta ahí que el anime solo trataría de revertir la maldición de Jusenkyo, sin embargo esto pasa a ser una arista más de la trama. Genma a modo de asegurar el destino de Ranma, lo compromete con la hija de su mejor amigo, el señor Soun Tendo, quien tiene tres hijas y además es viudo.
Por su lado Ranma desconoce esto, y es obligado por su padre a ir con los Tendo.

At this point, it seems that the anime will only deal with reversing the curse of Jusenkyo, but this turns out to be just one aspect of the plot. Genma, in order to secure Ranma's future, betroths him to the daughter of his best friend, Mr. Soun Tendo, who has three daughters and is also a widower.
Ranma is unaware of this and is forced by his father to go to the Tendo family.

Al avanzar en la trama vemos como Genma prometió a Ranma en matrimonio con más de una familia lo que desencadena varios líos en la historia.
Pero ahora siendo un miento más en la familia Tendo y siendo el prometido de la hija menor de la familia, Akane, debe lidiar con su problema con el agua fría, los rivales qué tienen sentimientos hacia Akane, además de sus propias enamoradas y luchar con sus propios sentimientos.

As the plot progresses, we see how Genma promised Ranma in marriage to more than one family, which triggers several complications in the story.
But now, as a member of the Tendo family and the fiancé of the youngest daughter, Akane, he must deal with his problem with cold water, rivals who have feelings for Akane, as well as his own girlfriends, and struggle with his own feelings.

Este anime gira en torno a las artes marciales, pero en medio de esto hay mucho humor y emoción. Además de contar con personajes secundarios que agregan toques emocionantes y picantes.

This anime revolves around martial arts, but in the midst of this, there is a lot of humor and excitement. In addition, there are secondary characters who add exciting and spicy touches.

Pero no creas que quería hablar solo de esto. El objetivo es hacer una comparación de ambas entregas, anime del 1989 v/s remake de 2024.

But don't think that I only wanted to talk about this. The goal is to compare both installments, the 1989 anime vs. the 2024 remake.

Si bien es cierto, hasta ahora ambas entregas han tenido los mismos episodios en cuanto al primer arco.
La historia comienza de la misma manera y eso se agradece, los personajes no tienen variación, quizás un diseño más estético en el remake, pero en si es lo mismo.

While it's true that so far both installments have had the same episodes in terms of the first arc.
The story begins in the same way, which is appreciated, and the characters haven't changed, except perhaps for a more aesthetic design in the remake, but otherwise it's the same.

Ahora los cambios. Lo que me gusta del remake, es que por ejemplo en el personaje de Ranma, se ve más cuidado en sus vestuarios. En la entrega del 89 solíamos verlos en cada episodio usando su característica camisa roja, sin embargo en el remake se le ha dado más variedad de vestuario, pero ojo, no es vestuario inventado o improvisado, sino es que es vestuario fiel a los episodios del manga.

Now for the changes. What I like about the remake is that, for example, Ranma's costumes are more carefully designed. In the 1989 version, we used to see him wearing his characteristic red shirt in every episode, but in the remake, he has been given a wider variety of costumes. However, these are not invented or improvised costumes, but rather costumes that are faithful to the episodes of the manga.

En cuanto a los diálogos, puedo decir que el remake es mucho más fiel al manga qué la primera entrega, sobre todo nos podemos dar cuenta en el episodio número 8 “El rapto de P-Chan”, podemos ver que el diálogo de Ranma a Sanzenin es fiel al manga, a diferencia del diálogo de la primera entrega.

As for the dialogue, I can say that the remake is much more faithful to the manga than the first series. We can see this especially in episode 8, "The Kidnapping of P-Chan," where Ranma's dialogue with Sanzenin is faithful to the manga, unlike the dialogue in the first series.

Podríamos decir que en este remake se pueden sentir los sentimientos de Ranma a Akane, lo mismo ocurre en el último episodio de la temporada remake, donde Shampoo utiliza su técnica de borrado de memoria hacia Akane.

We could say that in this remake, Ranma's feelings for Akane can be felt, and the same happens in the last episode of the remake season, where Shampoo uses her memory erasure technique on Akane.

En sí, este remake en lo personal me está dejando muy contenta y a pesar de que la mayoría de voces en su versión latino no son las mismas, las nuevas interpretaciones están bastante bien.
Lo único que podría objetar, es que la voz de Akane en español, siendo la misma que su antigua versión ofrecida por “Rossy Aguirre” se le pidió bajar el tono y suavizarlo, lo que a mi gusto le quita fuerza al personaje. Aunque es cosa de costumbre y eso no quita su buen desempeño de doblaje.

Personally, I am very happy with this remake, and although most of the voices in the Latin American version are not the same, the new interpretations are quite good.
The only thing I could object to is that Akane's voice in Spanish, being the same as her old version provided by "Rossy Aguirre," was asked to lower the tone and soften it, which, in my opinion, takes away from the character's strength. Although it's a matter of habit, and that doesn't take away from her good dubbing performance.

Y si hablamos de Akane, su versión remake también se ajusta mucho mejor al anime, quitándole mucho del “humor japonés” (golpes) qué había en la versión del 89 haciendo que los fans sientan más empatía hacia el personaje.

And speaking of Akane, her remake version also fits the anime much better, removing much of the "Japanese humor" (punches) that was in the 1989 version, making fans feel more empathy towards the character.

Ahora estoy a la espera del segundo acto ofrecido en la plataforma de streaming Netflix, que según se dijo, llegaría en octubre de este mismo año.

Now I'm waiting for the second act offered on the Netflix streaming platform, which, according to reports, will arrive in October of this year.

Y para finalizar, una última comparación seria en cuanto a sus opening y ending, ya que estos son distintos en ambas versiones.
Me inclino por el opening de la primera entrega en su versión latino, ya que siempre será el opening qué más me ha gustado a modo personal.

And finally, one last serious comparison regarding the opening and ending themes, as these are different in both versions.
I prefer the opening theme of the first installment in its Latin American version, as it will always be the opening theme that I have liked the most personally.
