Hello all anime fans... this time I am very excited to share with you all my opinions about a very unique anime, today I will be talking about Sony Boy... and this series is one of those experiences that just leaves you sitting with your eyes wide open, wondering what I just watched... and honestly I loved it for that. This anime isn't about giving you clear answers and a completely linear story, instead, it's more like an open invitation to explore themes about human nature, freedom and what it means to embrace true change.. things that would obviously help us grow. When I started watching it, I had no idea what to expect, I thought it would be just a typical sci-fi adventure, but wow... I watched it a few years ago and it's still very much in my memory. From the start, Sony Boy stands out and differentiates itself from the creeps and isekais out there, it could have become very typical and boring, but it just took a totally different turn, it starts with 36 high school students who suddenly find themselves adrift in an alternate dimension, with new powers that they have no idea how to control or how to use.. at first, you get to feel quite disoriented.
The animation style, the pacing and even the lack of a conventional soundtrack in many scenes leaves you with a bit of a weird feeling, wondering, what's going to happen, or where the situations are really going to go... When you start watching the episodes, you feel like you quickly jump from sci-fi to Slice of Life anime, and then jump back to drama anime, but always with an eerie feeling.. you just get carried away, or so I did.... I got carried away with this anime that wants to provide an experience, don't watch this anime if you are expecting just crazy plot twists or big action scenes.. this anime is not here to dazzle you with amazing animation, but to make you think and make you feel something..
One of the things that really struck me was how the anime explores the theme of change and adaptation, in the beginning, most of the students are desperate to return to their normal lives in Japan.. but as the chapters go on and they jump between these surreal worlds, you can see how they are changing, adapting and even finding comfort in all the chaos they are living through. I think this is something many of us can relate to, especially in times of personal or social upheaval, we often want to cling to what is familiar, but Sony Boy seems to suggest that maybe, just maybe, there is something valuable in letting go of the chaos and embracing all the unknown, and learning to swim in it.
Hola a todos fanáticos del anime.. en esta ocasión vengo muy emocionado a compartir con todos ustedes mis opiniones sobre un anime bastante único, hoy les hablaré de Sony Boy.. y es que esta serie es una de esas experiencias que simplemente te deja sentado con los ojos abiertos, de par en par, preguntándote qué acabo de ver.. y honestamente la amé por eso. Este anime no se trata de darte respuestas claras y una historia completamente lineal, en cambio, es más como una invitación abierta a explorar temas sobre la naturaleza humana, la libertad y lo que significa aceptar el verdadero cambio.. cosas que obviamente nos ayudarían a crecer. Cuando comencé a verlo, no tenía idea de lo que me esperaba, pensaba que sería una simple aventura de ciencia ficción típica, pero wow.. lo vi hace algunos años y aún lo tengo muy presente en mi memoria. Desde el inicio, Sony Boy se destaca y diferencia de los asquerosos y isekais que existen, podría haberse vuelto muy típico y aburrido, pero simplemente dio un giro totalmente diferente, comienza con 36 estudiantes de secundaria que de repente se encuentran a la deriva en una dimensión alternativa, con nuevos poderes que no tienen idea de cómo controlar o cómo usar.. al principio, llegas a sentirte bastante desorientado.
El estilo de animación, el ritmo e incluso la falta de una banda sonora convencional en muchas escenas te deja un poco con una sensación extraña, preguntándote, qué es lo que irá a pasar, o a dónde realmente van a ir las situaciones.. Cuando empiezas a ver los episodios, sientes como que saltas rápidamente de ciencia ficción a un anime Slice of Life, y luego vuelves a saltar a un anime de drama, pero siempre con una sensación inquietante.. simplemente te dejas llevar, o eso fue lo que yo hice.. Me dejé llevar por este anime que quiere brindar una experiencia, no veas este anime si esperas simplemente giros de guión alocados o grandes escenas de acción.. este anime no está aquí para deslumbrarte con una animación increíble, sino para hacerte reflexionar y hacerte sentir algo..
Una de las cosas que realmente me impactó fue como el anime explora el tema del cambio y la adaptación, al principio, la mayoría de los estudiantes están desesperados por regresar a sus vidas normales en Japón.. pero a medida que van pasando los capítulos y van saltando entre estos mundos surrealistas, puedes ver cómo ellos van cambiando, se adaptan e incluso encuentran consuelo en todo el caos que están viviendo. Creo que esto es algo con lo que muchos de nosotros podemos identificarnos, especialmente en tiempos de agitación personal o social, a menudo queremos aferrarnos a lo que se nos hace familiar, pero Sony Boy parece sugerir que tal vez, solo tal vez, hay algo valioso en dejarse llevar por el caos y abrazar todo lo desconocido, y aprender a nadar en ello.
The powers of the characters are another thing that adds depth to the story.. at first they appear to be random abilities that we would see in any other anime, but as you watch, you realize that these abilities are much more than just random powers.. these reflect the inner struggles, fears and desires of the characters. For example, Nagara, the main character, has a power related to escaping reality, which resonates deeply with his tendency to avoid decisions and responsibilities.. you can see fragments of all his complications and traumas.. surely many of you, like me, felt at some point the feeling of wanting to let go, avoid conflict and escape reality, just hoping that things would somehow just work themselves out.
Then we have another character named Nozomi, she is the light that contrasts with Nagara's dark introspection... her power to see a guiding light mainly can symbolize hope, that drive to want to move forward despite everything... she is the kind of character you would surely wish to have by your side in real life, she is a very good person you can count on. I feel like this anime isn't for everyone.. the pacing can sometimes feel a little slow, especially in the first half, where everything is more focused on the group in general and their individual reactions to this strange new reality, there were times when I felt a little lost, I won't deny it, wondering where this was all going. . but if you keep going, the second half shifts gears in a pretty powerful way, focusing on a small group of people, delving into their personal journeys... and this is when it all starts to make a little more sense, at least to me. You start to see how these experiences are shaping them, how their original desires and fears start to evolve little by little... by the end, I felt like I had gone through a philosophical journey process along with them, it was kind of cool.
Los poderes de los personajes son otra cosa que añade profundidad a la historia.. al principio parecen ser habilidades aleatorias que veríamos en cualquier otro anime, pero a medida que observas, te das cuenta de que estas habilidades son mucho más que simples poderes aleatorios.. estas reflejan las luchas internas, los miedos y los deseos de los personajes. Por ejemplo, Nagara, el protagonista, tiene un poder relacionado con escapar de la realidad, lo cual resuena profundamente con su tendencia a evitar decisiones y responsabilidades.. se pueden ver fragmentos de todas sus complicaciones y traumas.. seguramente muchos de ustedes, como yo, sintieron en algún momento el sentimiento de querer dejarse llevar, evitar los conflictos y escapar de la realidad, solo esperar que simplemente las cosas de algún modo se solucionaran por sí solas.
Luego tenemos a otro personaje llamado Nozomi, ella es la luz que contrasta con la introspección oscura de Nagara.. su poder de ver una luz que guía principalmente puede simbolizar esperanza, ese impulso de querer avanzar a pesar de todo.. ella es el tipo de personaje que seguramente desearías tener a tu lado en la vida real, es una muy buena persona con la que puedes contar. Siento que este anime no es para todos.. el ritmo a veces puede sentirse un poco lento, especialmente en la primera mitad, donde todo se centra más en el grupo en general y en sus reacciones individuales a esta extraña nueva realidad, hubo momentos en los que me sentí un poco perdido, no se los voy a negar, preguntándome hacia dónde iba todo esto.. pero si sigues adelante, la segunda mitad cambia de rumbo de una manera bastante poderosa, se enfoca en un grupo reducido de personas, profundizando en sus viajes personales.. y es aquí cuando todo comienza a tener un poco más de sentido, al menos para mí. Empiezas a ver cómo estas experiencias los están moldeando, cómo sus deseos y temores originales empiezan a evolucionar poco a poco.. al final, sentí que había pasado por un proceso de viaje filosófico junto con ellos, fue algo genial.
Part of the charm of this anime is that it doesn't strive for a clear conclusion or closure.. it's an anime that gives you as much as you're willing to invest, I found myself thinking a lot about certain scenes, wondering what they really meant, and realizing that there are multiple interpretations. It feels like one of those shows that you can watch over and over again, and each time you can pick up something new... that quality of not having a definitive closure makes it feel more like an experience to interpret, rather than just a casual story. It's as if each viewer can come away from it with their own vision, shaped by their own personal experiences and perspectives, having their own opinion of what they saw, and different interpretation to debate with.
The visual scenes in Sony Boy are somewhat mesmerizing... each world the students find themselves in has its own distinctive look and feel... the setting and the world in general, or the different dimensions, are almost like characters, some scenes feel downright mind-blowing, all with surreal landscapes and strange physics that break all the conventional rules. I think it is one of the most creative worlds, or “universes” that I have seen in any audiovisual production. Another thing, I have to give a round of applause to the soundtrack, although it is used sparingly, when the music manages to enter, it elevates the atmosphere to another level... it goes from melancholic to strange and disturbing, fitting perfectly with the tone of the anime, and of course, the ending is an amazing song... I loved it too much, and it went straight to my personal playlist.
Parte del encanto de este anime es que no se esfuerza por concluir o cerrar todo de manera clara.. es un anime que te da tanto como estés dispuesto a invertir, yo me encontré pensando mucho en ciertas escenas, preguntándome qué significaban realmente, y dándome cuenta de que hay múltiples interpretaciones. Se siente como uno de esos programas que puedes ver una y otra vez, y cada vez puedes captar algo nuevo.. esa cualidad de no tener un cierre definitivo hace que se sienta más como una experiencia para interpretar, en lugar de ser simplemente una historia casual. Es como si cada espectador pudiera salir de él con su propia visión, moldeada por sus propias experiencias personales y perspectivas, teniendo su propia opinión de lo que vio, y diferente interpretación con la cual poder debatir.
Las escenas visuales de Sony Boy son algo hipnotizantes.. cada mundo en el que se encuentran los estudiantes tiene su propio aspecto y ambiente distintivo.. el escenario y el mundo en general, o las distintas dimensiones, son casi como personajes, algunas escenas se sienten francamente alucinantes, todas con paisajes surrealistas y una física extraña que rompe todas las reglas convencionales. Creo que es uno de los mundos, o "universos" más creativos que he visto en alguna producción audiovisual. Otra cosa, tengo que dar un aplauso a la banda sonora, aunque se usa con moderación, cuando la música logra entrar, eleva el ambiente a otro nivel.. va desde lo melancólico hasta lo extraño e inquietante, encajando perfectamente con el tono de el anime, y por supuesto, el ending es una canción increíble.. a mí me encantó demasiado, y fue directo a mi playlist personal.
I give this anime a 9.5/10 rating, I don't consider it perfect.. there were moments where it could have communicated certain ideas in a clearer way and obviously the pacing could test the patience of some viewers, but it is quite refreshing.. it's not afraid to ask you deep questions and leaves you with more doubts than answers, but this is not exactly a bad thing. Obviously, it's not the kind of anime I would recommend to simply distract you, as this is deep enough to require your full attention, but I think it's very worthwhile.. it deals very well with the journey of self-discovery, the theme of accepting change and realizing that sometimes it's okay to feel lost..
It reminds us that we have the freedom to choose our own path at any time, even if that path is full of uncertainties, honestly it was like a life lesson.. i think it is made as i mentioned, to make you think. Yo le doy a este anime una calificación de 9.5/10, no lo considero perfecto.. hubo momentos en los que podría haber comunicado ciertas ideas de una manera más clara y obviamente el ritmo podría poner a prueba la paciencia de algunos espectadores, pero es bastante refrescante.. no tiene miedo a hacerte preguntas profundas y te deja con más dudas que respuestas, pero no precisamente esto es algo malo. Obviamente, no es el tipo de anime que te recomendaría para simplemente distraerte, ya que esto es suficientemente profundo para requerir toda tu atención, pero creo que vale mucho la pena.. trata muy bien el viaje de autodescubrimiento, el tema de aceptar el cambio y darnos cuenta que a veces está bien sentirnos perdidos..
Nos recuerda que tenemos la libertad de elegir nuestro propio camino en cualquier momento, incluso si ese camino está lleno de incertidumbres, sinceramente fue como una lección de vida.. creo queestá hecho como lo he mencionado, para hacer que pensar.
