Today I want to talk about a rather strange anime, and to be honest, I don't quite understand its creation... today I'll tell you my opinions on the series: Suicide Squad Isekai, seriously, when they announced it, my brain was like... what? The Suicide Squad? In an anime? And on top of that, transported to a fantasy world? It sounded totally crazy and, I don't know, like it could turn out to be something good. A part of me was excited, thinking about everything they could do, but another part was like: "Oh, I hope it's not something horrible." Like a somewhat measured optimism, but with a fear that I can't even tell you about, well, in the end I got the courage, I watched the episodes that are there, and... I have A TON of things to say, I need to get this off my chest. First, let's talk about the visuals, because it's crazy. The Suicide Squad itself? They look incredible, really, the way they adapted Harley, Deadshot, Clayface, Peacemaker... even Amanda Waller!... to that anime style is... perfect, it has a great aesthetic, very well done.

Harley looks spectacular, it captures all her chaotic vibe but fits perfectly into the anime look, I'll be honest, seeing her design was easy, and Clayface! How they reimagined him is really super cool, much more dynamic than the typical 'giant mud man'... even the Joker's look, who appears a little at the beginning, is a pretty interesting stylized version. If you put, I don't know, comic book panels or scenes from the Harley Quinn series next to the anime versions of these characters, you realize that they really hit the nail on the head with the adaptation of the main team, you can tell that they put a lot of effort and love into making the Squad look good in this format. It feels fresh but you recognize it immediately, BUT... and this is a big but, people... everything else? Where do they fall into the isekai world? Ugh. It's... ugly. I mean, ugly. I don't know how else to put it, it seems like there was no clear art direction, just a weird and chaotic mix of medieval fantasy stuff, futuristic technological devices that are not even relevant, and magical elements, all thrown into a blender and nothing fits!

It's like they couldn't decide on a style and just threw everything in, the colors often feel clashing, too bright, almost garish in some parts... honestly, it really freaked me out at times, it makes it look kind of weird, you know? Like they designed the characters really cool and then just slapped on a generic fantasy background with stuff no one else wanted... it feels like they didn't put much faith in the world building part... it doesn't look coherent, it's just... hard to watch, really.. don't even get me started on some of the creature designs, like those half-pig, half-orc soldiers... they just look super weird and pointless! Almost like something out of a low-budget mobile game or one of those weird adult animations you stumble across... the point is, the world itself is a HUGE visual disappointment compared to the character designs... the anime is ugly, but the Squadron looks great, it's a super strange contrast.

Hola a todos, amigos fanáticos del anime, espero que hoy se encuentren genial, el día de hoy quiero hablarles de un anime bastante raro, y que la verdad, no entiendo muy bien su creación.. hoy les comentaré mis opiniones de la serie: Suicide Squad Isekai, en serio, cuando lo anunciaron, mi cerebro hizo como... ¿qué? ¿El Escuadrón Suicida? ¿En un anime? ¿Y encima transportados a un mundo de fantasía? Sonaba totalmente loco y, no sé, como que podía resultar en algo bueno, una parte de mí estaba emocionado, pensando en todo lo que podían hacer, pero otra parte decía como: "Ay, ojalá no sea algo horroroso " como un optimismo ahí medio medido, pero con un miedo que ni les cuento, pues al final me animé, vi los capítulos que hay, y.. tengo UN MONTÓN de cosas que decir, necesito desahogarme con esto. Primero, hablemos de lo visual, porque es una locura. ¿El Escuadrón Suicida en sí? Se ven increíbles, la verdad, la forma en que adaptaron a Harley, Deadshot, Clayface, Peacemaker.. hasta a Amanda Waller!... a ese estilo anime es... perfecta, tiene una estética genial, muy bien lograda.

Harley se ve espectacular, capta toda su onda caótica pero encaja perfecto en el look anime, les soy sincero, ver su diseño fue fácil, y Clayface! Cómo lo reimaginaron está de verda súper cool, mucho más dinámico que el típico 'hombre de lodo gigante'.. incluso el look del Joker, que sale poquito al principio, es una versión estilizada bastante interesante. Si pones, no sé, viñetas del cómic o escenas de la serie de Harley Quinn al lado de las versiones anime de estos personajes, te das cuenta que de verdad le pegaron a la adaptación del equipo principal, se nota que le echaron ganas y cariño para que el Escuadrón se viera bien en este formato. Se siente fresco pero lo reconoces al toque, PEEERO.. y este es un gran pero, gente.. ¿todo lo demás? ¿El mundo isekai donde caen? Uf. Está... feo. O sea, feo.. no sé cómo más decirlo, parece que no hubo una dirección de arte clara, solo una mezcla ahí toda rara y caótica de cosas de fantasía medieval, aparatos tecnológicos futuristas que ni al caso, y elementos mágicos, todo metido a la licuadora y nada cuadra!

Es como si no se decidieran por un estilo y metieron de todo, los colores seguido se sienten chocantes, demasiado brillantes, casi chillones en algunas partes.. la verdad, a veces me sacaba de onda, hace que se vea medio raro, ¿saben? Como si hubieran diseñado a los personajes bien chidos y luego nomás hubieran pegado un fondo de fantasía genérico con cosas que nadie más quiso.. se siente como que no le tenían mucha fe a la parte de construir el mundo.. no se ve coherente, es simplemente... difícil de ver, la verdad.. ni me hagan hablar de algunos diseños de criaturas, como esos soldados mitad cerdo, mitad orco... se ven súper raros y sin chiste! Casi como salidos de un juego de celular de bajo presupuesto o esas animaciones raras para adultos que te encuentras sin querer.. el punto es que el mundo en sí es una decepción visual GIGANTE comparado con los diseños de los personajes.. el anime está feo, pero el Escuadrón se ve genial, es un contraste súper extraño.

Let's see, let's be honest, nobody expected the great philosophical story here with the Suicide Squad in another world, we already knew what we were going for, the vibe is pure action comedy, with a lot of dark humor, somewhat similar to the Harley Quinn animated series - which makes sense, because she's like the protagonist here too, and that series fits the tone perfectly... yes, it delivers on that, almost always, it's funny, there are jokes that are good scattered throughout, moments that did make me laugh or at least smile. Some phrases are quite sharp, really, they did capture that cynical vibe of the Squad... it's not that you're going to die laughing every time, but it does have its jokes and it doesn't take itself super seriously, which is the best they could do, if you're just looking to have a fun time without thinking too much about it, then it can work...

And the action? yes there is, you won’t get bored waiting for something to happen, almost every chapter has its fair share of fights, explosions and mayhem… and the animation in those parts? This is where WIT Studio really shines… but only sometimes, there are moments, like a specific scene in chapter 3, that are simply brutal!: dynamic, fluid, very fast, where they don’t put in that much fine detail, but they give it their all in the movement that excites you… it looks incredible! It’s that type of super energetic animation that turns you on, BUT… remember when I told you that the visuals were all kinds of mixed?

The quality of the animation is inconsistent, and it’s really jarring, one chapter can look great, with well-choreographed action, and the next feels… more tacky… I mean, you can tell they put less effort or less money into it, the drawings sometimes look kind of deformed or like they’re not the character, you know? And the action doesn't seem to hit that hard... it really seems like different teams, or maybe different directors worked on different episodes, and the quality control just wasn't even even... they even reuse background characters without any shame, like those guards that you see literally copied and pasted several times in the scenes with a lot of people... it's one of those things that screams 'there was no budget!' or 'they did it in a hurry!' and the truth is, it does throw you off.

Bueno, ya vimos que lo visual está medio raro, pero ¿qué onda con la historia y la vibra? A ver, seamos sinceros, nadie se esperaba aquí la gran historia filosófica con el Escuadrón Suicida en otro mundo, ya sabíamos a lo que le tirábamos, la onda es pura comedia de acción, con bastante humor negro, medio parecido a la serie animada de Harley Quinn – que tiene lógica, porque ella es como la prota acá también, y esa serie le pega perfecto al tono.. sí cumple con eso, casi siempre, es divertido, hay chistes que sí están buenos regados por ahí, momentos que sí me sacaron la risa o por lo menos una sonrisita. Algunas frases están bien filosas, la verdad, sí captaron esa onda cínica del Escuadrón.. no es que te vayas a morir de risa a cada rato, pero sí tiene su chiste y no se toma súper en serio, que es lo mejor que podían hacer, si andas buscando nomás pasar un rato divertido sin pensarle mucho, pues puede servir..

Y la acción? sí que hay, no te vas a aburrir esperando que pase algo, casi todos los capítulos tienen su buena dosis de peleas, explosiones y desmadre.. y la animación en esas partes? Aquí es donde WIT Studio como que se luce... pero sólo a veces, hay momentos, como una escena específica en el capítulo 3, que están simplemente ¡brutales!: dinámicos, fluidos, rapidísimos, donde no le meten tanto detalle fino, pero le dan con todo al movimiento que te emociona.. se ve increíble! Es ese tipo de animación súper energética que te prende, PEEERO... ¿se acuerdan que les dije que lo visual era una de cal y una de arena?

La calidad de la animación es inconsistente, y es que choca un montón, un capítulo se puede ver súper bien, con acción bien coreografiada, y el siguiente se siente... más chafa.. o sea, se nota que le metieron menos ganas o menos plata, los dibujos a veces se ven medio deformes o como que no son el personaje, ¿saben? Y la acción como que no pega tan duro.. de verdad parece que distintos equipos, o tal vez distintos directores trabajaron en capítulos diferentes, y el control de calidad nomás no fue parejo.. hasta reutilizan personajes de fondo sin ninguna pena, como esos guardias que ves literal copiado y pegados varias veces en las escenas con mucha gente.. es de esas cosas que gritan '¡no había presupuesto!' o '¡lo hicieron a las apuradas!' y la verdad, sí te saca de onda.

King Shark is adorable, but he destroys you, the perfect combination, Peacemaker has some really cool moments that are funny but also kind of sad, showing his completely twisted ideology… they do feel like the characters we already know and (sometimes) love, it’s just that they were thrown into this weird fantasy world, and seeing how they react to the elves and the orcs, well, it has its joke, it’s funny in itself… my only “but” here, maybe… and this is something I’ve seen others comment on too: is that they feel… too good? you know?

I mean, yeah, they're violent and cause a mess, but they quickly go too far into the 'good guy antihero' vibe... they're supposed to be super villains, dangerous criminals who are forced to work, aside from Harley and Peacemaker, who do have their own weird moral code, the rest of them don't seem to really feel bad or bad. I feel like there was a bit of a missed opportunity to explore that dark side and the friction within the team. Maybe they played it safe so the audience would support them without feeling so bad... which, okay, makes sense so more people would like it, but for me as a DC fan I feel like it kind of takes away from the idea of ​​​​the 'Suicide Squad'. And well, while the Squad does have its vibe, what about the characters from the isekai world?

A total disaster, seriously, they are the exact mold of the generic fantasy character... boring, flat, you forget them in a second, there is a princess around who seems to want to put some effort into it to have some depth, but in the end it just feels like an excuse for the plot, meaningless and even stupid, none of the knights there, nor the soldiers, nor the bad guys mattered a bit to me... they are only there to advance the story or for the Squadron to save them or split their tangerine... their designs are just as ugly and boring as their personalities, really... and it's a shame, because they are given a ton of screen time and they are supposed to be key to the main problem, but they just make everything feel heavy every time the camera moves away from the Squadron... you spend your time just waiting for Harley or Deadshot to come out again and for him to get good again, because those people really are insufferable, haha, at least they adapted that classic isekai thing well haha.

Pero bueno, vamos a lo importante: el Escuadrón, que es la razón por la que estamos viendo esta cosa, sus personalidades, sí están bien logradas en su mayoría, y qué bueno, porque yo creo que es lo mejor que tiene la serie, Harley está loca como siempre, impredecible y así tiene que ser! King Shark es adorable, pero te destroza, la combinación perfecta, Peacemaker tiene unos momentazos que lo definen cañón, que son divertidos pero también medio tristes, mostrando su ideología toda torcida.. sí se sienten como los personajes que ya conocemos y (a veces) queremos, nomás que los aventaron a este mundo de fantasía todo raro, y ver cómo reaccionan a los elfos y los orcos, pues, tiene su chiste, es divertido por sí solo.. mi único "pero" aquí, tal vez... y esto es algo que he visto que comentan otros también: es que se sienten... ¿demasiado buenos? ¿saben?

O sea, sí, son violentos y arman un desmadre, pero como que muy rápido se van mucho a la onda del 'antihéroe buena gente'.. se supone que son súper villanos, criminales peligrosos que los obligan a trabajar, fuera de Harley y Peacemaker, que ellos sí tienen su código moral todo raro, los demás como que no se sienten realmente malos o peligrosos. Siento que ahí se perdió un poco la oportunidad de explorar ese lado oscuro y los roces en el equipo, tal vez se fueron a lo seguro para que uno como público los apoyara sin sentirse tan mal.. que bueno, ok, tiene sentido para que le guste a más gente, pero para mí como fan de DC siento que le baja un poco a la idea del 'Escuadrón Suicida'. Y bueno, mientras que el Escuadrón sí tiene su onda, ¿los personajes propios del mundo isekai?

Un desastre total, en serio, son el molde exacto del personaje de fantasía genérico.. aburridos, planos, que se te olvidan al segundo, anda por ahí una princesa que como que le quiere echar ganitas para tener algo de profundidad, pero al final se siente nomás como una excusa para la trama, sin sentido y hasta estúpido, ninguno de los caballeros de ahí, ni los soldados, ni los malos me importaron un pepino..nomás están ahí para que la historia avance o para que el Escuadrón los salve o les parta su mandarina.. sus diseños son igual de feos y aburridos que sus personalidades, la verdad.. y es una pena, porque les dan un montón de tiempo en pantalla y se supone que son clave para el problema principal, pero nomás hacen que todo se sienta pesado cada vez que la cámara se aleja del Escuadrón.. te la pasas nomás esperando a que vuelvan a salir Harley o Deadshot y que se ponga bueno otra vez, porque esa gente realmente es insufrible, jaja, al menos adaptaron bien eso de los isekai clásicos jaja.

So yeah, the show is kind of fun, the action sort of saves the day (when the animation isn't crappy), the Squad is pretty great most of the time... but does the story really hook you in? Does it leave you wanting to be like 'oh shit, I want to see what's next!'? Well, honestly, no... at least not for me... beyond the 'Suicide Squad in another world' joke, the plot itself, with the kingdom, the war that you already know is going to happen, the obvious betrayals, the generic fantasy politics... the truth is that I couldn't bring myself to care much... it feels like any other stupid cookie-cutter isekai plot that's been around a thousand times before, except with DC characters thrown in. Since the world isn't compelling and the characters there are so average, there's nothing to really keep you hooked beyond 'what crazy thing is Harley going to do next?' or 'how is Deadshot going to shoot his way out of this?'... it doesn't give you that addictive feeling of 'Oh my God, I NEED the next episode NOW!' that good shows have... it entertains you while you're watching, perfect for turning off your brain, but it really doesn't stick with you after the credits roll.

And that leaves me wondering... who is this show really for? It’s a really weird mix… sometimes the series literally stops for a character (almost always Clayface, who is suddenly made into an isekai otaku, which felt kind of forced) to explain basic isekai stuff to you, like what an isekai is, or how certain things in the fantasy world work, almost as if they were talking to you as if you were an idiot, it seems like they’re explaining things in a nutshell to people who have never seen anime, maybe casual DC fans who saw the movies and got curious… but then, why hire an anime studio as pro as WIT if you don’t trust that the people who do watch anime will understand what the genre is about? It feels kind of cynical, like Warner Bros. just slapped "Suicide Squad" and "Isekai" together because they're buzzwords, trying to cover a lot of ground but not really making anyone happy... trying to pull the anime camp together with the studio and style, and the DC camp together with the characters and leading them by the hand, only to have it all feel awkward and shallow for both sides.

Here's the bottom line? Suicide Squad Isekai isn't horrible... it's not the disaster I half feared, it's a weird, half-disordered experiment that sort of... worked halfway... as they say, 'it passed without pain or glory'... there are sparks of fun and even very good things: the anime designs of the Squad are cool, some action moments are brutal when they put money into the animation, the general chaotic energy that suits the team, but it's always weighed down by the horrible world design, the animation quality that is inconsistent and frustrating a lot, the main plot that you forget in a second and the secondary characters of the fantasy world are flatter than a board... I would probably give it maybe... a 6.5/10... it's like entertaining junk food: it tastes good while you eat it, it fills your stomach, but it doesn't nourish you and you forget it quickly, I'm kind of glad I saw it just for the novelty of 'what the hell is this?', but the truth is I don't care if they make a sequel or not, I'm fine with it Anyway... well, that's all for today. Entonces, sí, la serie es algo divertida, la acción más o menos salva algo (cuando la animación no se ve chafa), el Escuadrón lo hace genial casi siempre... ¿pero la historia de verdad te engancha? ¿Te deja así con ganas de '¡no manches, quiero ver qué sigue!'? Pues la verdad, no.. al menos a mí.. más allá del chiste de 'el Escuadrón Suicida en otro mundo', la trama en sí, con el reino, la guerra que ya sabes que va a pasar, las traiciones obvias, la política de fantasía genérica... la verdad es que no logré que me importara mucho.. se siente como cualquier otra trama de isekai estúpida de molde que ya ha existido mil veces, nomás que con personajes de DC metidos ahí. Como el mundo no convence y los personajes de ahí son tan equis, no hay nada que te amarre de verdad más allá de '¿qué locura va a hacer Harley ahora?' o '¿cómo se va a salir Deadshot de esta a punta de balazos?'.. no te crea esa sensación adictiva de '¡Dios mío, NECESITO el próximo capítulo YA!' que tienen las series buenas.. te entretiene mientras la ves, perfecta para desconectar el cerebro, pero la verdad no se te queda grabada después de que acaban los créditos.

Y eso me deja pensando... ¿para quién es esta serie realmente? Es una mezcla bien rara.. a veces, la serie literal se para para que un personaje (casi siempre Clayface, que de la nada lo ponen como otaku de isekai, que se sintió medio forzado) te explique cosas básicas de isekai, como explicar qué es un isekai, o cómo funcionan ciertas cosas del mundo de fantasía, casi como si le estuvieran hablando a uno como si fuera tonto, parece que le están explicando con manzanitas a la gente que nunca ha visto anime, quizás fans casuales de DC que vieron las pelis y les dio curiosidad.. ero entonces, ¿para qué contratar a un estudio de anime tan pro como WIT si no confías en que la gente que sí ve anime entienda de qué va el género? Se siente medio cínico, como si Warner Bros. nomás hubiera juntado 'Suicide Squad' e 'Isekai' porque son palabras de moda, queriendo abarcar mucho pero sin dejar contento a nadie de verdad.. intenta jalar a la banda del anime con el estudio y el estilo, y a la banda de DC con los personajes y llevándolos de la mano, y al final para que todo se sienta incómodo y superficial para los dos lados.

Miren, ¿la conclusión? Suicide Squad Isekai no está horrible.. no es el desastre que medio me temía, es un experimento raro, medio desordenado, que como que... funcionó a medias.. como decían por ahí, 'pasó sin pena ni gloria'.. hay chispazos de diversión y hasta cosas muy buenas: los diseños anime del Escuadrón están chidos, algunos momentos de acción están brutales cuando le meten lana a la animación, la energía caótica general que le queda bien al equipo, pero siempre le pesa el diseño del mundo que está horrible, la calidad de la animación que es inconsistente y frustra un montón, la trama principal que se te olvida al segundo y los personajes secundarios del mundo de fantasía más planos que una tabla.. Probablemente le daría quizás un... 6.5/10.. es como comida chatarra entretenida: sabe bien mientras te la comes, te llena el estómago, pero no te nutre y se te olvida rápido, estoy medio contento de haberla visto nomás por la novedad de '¿qué diablos es esto?', pero la verdad no me importa si sacan una continuación o no, me da bastante igual.. y bueno, esto es todo por hoy, nos veremos en las próximas reseñas, cuidense mucho!
