Han pasado años desde la primera vez que vi Nanatsu no Taizai, por ahí del 2014, cuando el anime apenas comenzaba a ganar popularidad. Recuerdo perfectamente cómo me atrapó desde el inicio: la historia de los Siete Pecados Capitales, guerreros exiliados que buscan redimirse mientras enfrentan una conspiración que amenaza el reino de Liones. Con una mezcla de acción, aventura y personajes carismáticos, tenía todo para convertirse en un anime de culto, al menos para mí.
Sin embargo, como suele pasar, con el tiempo me fui dedicando a otras cosas. Dejé la serie en pausa, ocupándome con nuevos intereses, juegos, estudios, y la rutina diaria. Lo curioso es que, aunque tenía presente que Nanatsu no Taizai me había gustado bastante en su momento, casi no recordaba los detalles de la historia. Así que recientemente tomé la decisión de volver a verla desde el principio, más por curiosidad y nostalgia que por otra cosa, y ahora que lo estoy haciendo, tengo que decirlo: ¡qué gran decisión!

It's been years since I first watched Nanatsu no Taizai, back in 2014, when the anime was just starting to gain popularity. I remember perfectly how it grabbed me from the start: the story of the Seven Deadly Sins, exiled warriors seeking redemption while facing a conspiracy that threatens the kingdom of Lyons. With a mix of action, adventure and charismatic characters, it had everything to become a cult anime, at least for me.
However, as it usually happens, as time went by, I got busy with other things. I put the series on hiatus, occupying myself with new interests, games, studies, and the daily routine. The funny thing is that, although I was aware that I liked Nanatsu no Taizai quite a lot at the time, I almost didn't remember the details of the story. So I recently made the decision to re-watch it from the beginning, more out of curiosity and nostalgia than anything else, and now that I'm doing it, I have to say it: what a great decision!
Me sorprende la frescura de la narrativa. En un momento donde muchos animes parecen seguir fórmulas más repetitivas o enfocadas en tendencias del momento, Nanatsu no Taizai aún se siente como una historia de aventuras con una esencia única, adelantada a su época. No depende exclusivamente de peleas espectaculares o giros exagerados, sino que realmente construye una mitología propia, con conflictos bien planteados y personajes con un desarrollo interesante.
Algo que me había detenido un poco para retomarlo eran los memes y comentarios que circulan sobre la animación de sus últimas temporadas. No voy a negar que algunas imágenes me dejaron dudando, porque claramente hubo un bajón en la calidad visual en ciertos momentos. Pero fuera de eso, el núcleo de la historia sigue intacto. No he visto quejas sobre la trama en sí, y hasta ahora, vuelvo a sentir esa conexión con la serie que me atrapó desde el principio.
Esta vez sí lo terminaré. Sin pausas ni excusas. Quiero recorrer de nuevo toda la historia, desde las intrigas iniciales hasta los momentos más épicos que quedaron en mi memoria. Algo me dice que voy a disfrutarlo tanto como la primera vez, si no es que más, porque ahora lo veo con una perspectiva diferente, apreciando detalles que quizá antes pasé por alto. I'm surprised by the freshness of the narrative. At a time when many anime seem to follow more repetitive formulas or focus on trends of the moment, Nanatsu no Taizai still feels like an adventure story with a unique essence, ahead of its time. It doesn't rely exclusively on spectacular fights or over-the-top twists, but really builds a mythology of its own, with well-posed conflicts and characters with interesting development.
Something that had stopped me a bit to pick it up were the memes and comments circulating about the animation of its last seasons. I won't deny that some images left me doubting, because there was clearly a drop in visual quality at certain moments. But other than that, the core of the story remains intact. I've seen no complaints about the plot itself, and so far, I'm once again feeling that connection to the series that grabbed me from the beginning.
This time I will finish it. No pauses, no excuses. I want to go through the whole story again, from the initial intrigues to the most epic moments that stayed in my memory. Something tells me I'm going to enjoy it as much as the first time, if not more, because now I see it with a different perspective, appreciating details that maybe I overlooked before.
