Han pasado dos años desde que descubrí To Your Eternity, y hasta el día de hoy, sigo convencido de que es una de las obras más profundas y hermosas que he visto. Este año, después de mucha espera, finalmente llega su tercera temporada, y no podría estar más emocionado. Esa emoción me ha impulsado a escribir este post, porque este anime merece mucho más reconocimiento del que se le ha dado.
Recuerdo perfectamente cómo llegué a él: varias reseñas en internet hablaban maravillas, pero ninguna realmente capturaba lo que To Your Eternity logra transmitir. No es solo un anime, es una experiencia, un viaje emocional que explora la existencia misma a través de una entidad que cae del cielo. Una forma sin mentalidad ni voluntad propia, solo capaz de cambiar de apariencia y aprender con el paso del tiempo. Para mí, es inmortal, tal vez una especie de dios, o quizá algo aún más allá de nuestra comprensión. Explicarlo ya es suficiente para hacer explotar mi mente.
El dilema que plantea desde el primer episodio es fascinante: una criatura que no piensa, que no sabe lo que es bueno o malo, y que solo existe. Su desarrollo a lo largo de la historia es impresionante, porque no solo aprende sobre el mundo, sino sobre sí misma, moldeada por el dolor, la pérdida y el amor.

It's been two years since I discovered To Your Eternity, and to this day, I remain convinced that it is one of the most profound and beautiful works I've ever seen. This year, after much waiting, its third season finally arrives, and I couldn't be more excited. That excitement has prompted me to write this post, because this anime deserves much more recognition than it has been given.
I distinctly remember how I came to it: several reviews on the internet raved about it, but none really captured what To Your Eternity manages to convey. It's not just an anime, it's an experience, an emotional journey that explores existence itself through an entity that falls from the sky. A form with no mentality or will of its own, only able to change appearance and learn as time goes by. To me, it is immortal, perhaps a god of sorts, or perhaps something even beyond our comprehension. Explaining it is enough to blow my mind.
The dilemma he poses from the very first episode is fascinating: a creature that doesn't think, doesn't know what is good or bad, and just exists. Its development throughout the story is impressive, because it not only learns about the world, but about itself, shaped by pain, loss and love.
Pero To Your Eternity no se conforma con explorar la evolución de su protagonista. Cada personaje secundario que aparece a lo largo de su viaje tiene una historia tan rica y profunda que podrían protagonizar su propio anime. Son tan humanos, tan reales, que sus despedidas duelen como pocas veces he sentido en una obra de ficción. Lloré muchas veces con este anime. No solo por lo trágico de sus historias, sino por la manera en que nos obliga a mirar la vida con una perspectiva diferente.
Este anime nos enseña que la existencia es un cúmulo de emociones y aprendizajes, y que el dolor es una parte inevitable de crecer. Nos hace valorar los momentos felices, nos confronta con la pérdida y nos recuerda lo importante que es seguir adelante, aún cuando el camino esté lleno de dificultades.
La tercera temporada está por llegar, y con ella, más historias, más reflexiones, y seguramente más lágrimas. Pero lo espero con ansias, porque sé que será otro viaje inolvidable. But To Your Eternity is not content to simply explore the evolution of its protagonist. Each secondary character that appears along her journey has a story so rich and deep that they could star in their own anime. They are so human, so real, that their goodbyes hurt like I have rarely felt in a work of fiction. I cried many times with this anime. Not only because of the tragic nature of its stories, but because of the way it forces us to look at life with a different perspective.
This anime teaches us that existence is an accumulation of emotions and learning, and that pain is an inevitable part of growing up. It makes us cherish the happy moments, confronts us with loss and reminds us how important it is to move forward, even when the road is full of difficulties.
Season three is coming, and with it, more stories, more reflections, and surely more tears. But I'm looking forward to it, because I know it will be another unforgettable journey.
