Wow, I recently found something on Netflix that caught my attention since it has to do with the Grimm brothers (one of my favorite authors) so without a doubt I dedicated myself to watching the first episode but I couldn't help myself and ended up watching several of them, the stories have me so hooked that I felt the need to talk about them 😃
Wow recientemente encontré en Netflix algo que llamó mi atención ya que tiene que ver con los hermanos Grimm (de mis autores favoritos) así que sin lugar a dudas me dediqué a ver ele primer episodio pero no pude evitarlo y terminé viendo varios de ellos, las historias me tienen tan enganchada que sentí la necesidad de hablar sobre ellas 😃
Overview/Resumen
It's made up of several unrelated episodes that don't follow a linear story, so you can watch any episode at random. The series basically lives up to its title because each episode is a version of a Brothers Grimm story, but as if those weren't already grotesque and dark enough 😄, here they are presented with many variations, giving it an even darker, more sinister, and sometimes even gory approach.
Se trata de varios episodios inconexos que no mantienen una historia lineal, así que puedes ver cualquier capítulo al azar. Básicamente la serie le hace honor a su título porque cada episodio es una versión de una historia de los hermanos Grimm, pero como si estos no fuesen ya lo suficientemente grotescos y oscuros 😄, aquí se presentan con muchas variaciones, dándole un enfoque aún más oscuro, tétrico y en algunas ocasiones hasta gore.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
I think it's a very original idea to give a new perspective to the Brothers Grimm stories. I like that at the beginning, we are introduced to three characters who will act as narrators in a certain way. They are none other than a version of the Brothers Grimm themselves and their little sister Charlotte, who loves listening to stories. When these characters come into action at the beginning of each episode, the animation is different, and I like it because, in a way, it reminds me of Impressionist art.
Creo que es una propuesta muy original el hecho de darle un nuevo enfoque a las historias de los hermanos Grim. Me gusta que al inicio se presentan ante nosotros tres personajes que actuarán de cierta manera como narradores quienes son nada más y nada menos que una versión de los propios hermanos Grimm y su hermanita Charlotte, la cual adora escuchar historias. Cuando estos personajes entran en acción al inicio de cada episodio la animación es diferente y me gusta porque de cierta forma me recuerda el arte impresionista,
Each episode shows us a different alternative, one we may have fantasized about at some point. What if Cinderella weren't so submissive and good? Imagine if she had been the villain of the story? What if Little Red Riding Hood ended up devouring the wolf? This reinterpretation of the original tales brings a more complex approach that questions the morality of the characters, who end up revealing their hidden desires and traumas, driven by dark emotions. All of this shows us something important: the heroes and villains depend on who tells the story and how they do it.
Cada uno de los episodios nos muestra una alternativa diferente con la que quizá hemos fantaseado alguna vez ¿Qué tal si cenicienta no fuese tan sumisa y buena? ¿imaginas si ella hubiese sido la villana de la historia? ¿Qué tal si caperucita roja terminase devorando al lobo? Esta reinterpretación de los cuentos originales le aporta un enfoque más complejo que cuestiona la moralidad de los personajes, los cuales terminan revelando sus deseos ocultos y traumas, motivados por emociones oscuras. Todo esto nos demuestra algo importante, los héroes y los villanos dependerán de quien cuente la historia y la forma en que lo haga.
In some episodes the series resorts to steampunk, a subgenre characterized by mixing elements of Victorian aesthetics with futuristic or retro-futuristic technologies. For example, in the episode "Hansel and Gretel" (my favorite so far, since I haven't finished watching all the episodes), this gives it an extra touch of style and aesthetic drama. And speaking specifically of this episode, I think it's the one with the most depth, at least of those I've seen so far, since it makes you question what lies beyond what you've been taught for years, both at school, your family, and society. Man has always been in search of knowledge, but it seems that the more he pursues it, the more questions arise in his head. Truly, this episode is interesting, especially because of the plot twist at the end.
En algunos episodios la serie recurre al steampunk que es un subgénero que se caracteriza por mezclar elementos de la estética victoriana con tecnologías futuristas o retro futuristas, por ejemplo en el episodio de Hansel y Gretel (Mi favorito hasta ahora, ya que no he terminado de ver todos los episodios) esto le aporta un toque extra de estilo y dramatismo estético. Y hablando precisamente de este episodio creo que es el que guarda más profundidad, al menos de los que he visto hasta ahora, ya que te hace cuestionar que hay más allá de lo que te han enseñado durante años, tanto la escuela como tu familia y la sociedad, el hombre siempre ha estado en busca del conocimiento pero tal parece que mientras más lo persigue, más preguntas surgen en su cabeza. De verdad, este episodio es interesante, sobre todo por el giro de trama al final.
There are episodes worth reviewing and analyzing separately, but honestly, they're all very interesting. They maintain a dynamic narrative and an oppressive atmosphere that makes you feel like you're part of the story itself. I truly recommend this series. Thank you so much for reading my review.
