In the year 2029, the Apocalypse virus unleashed chaos in Japan and forced its government to cede its independence to an organization called GHQ in exchange for them to control and contain the virus.
Now it is 2039 and Shu Ouma, a 17-year-old boy, accidentally obtains the King's Power, which he will use to physically manifest other people's hearts in order to fight.
Will he manage to completely eradicate the virus and bring peace back to Japan and the world?
En el año 2029, el virus Apocalipsis desató el caos en Japón y obligó a su gobierno a ceder su independencia a una organización llamada GHQ a cambio de que controlen y contengan el virus.
Ahora es el 2039 y Shu Ouma, un joven de 17 años, obtiene accidentalmente el Poder del Rey, el que usará para manifestar físicamente el corazón de otras personas para poder luchar.

Guilty Crown is an anime that stands out in several respects and deserves a closer look. The series, set in a futuristic Japan controlled by the authoritarian GHQ regime, features a plot where Shu Ouma, a seemingly ordinary student, acquires a mysterious power called the King's Power. This allows him to extract Voids, physical manifestations of people's hearts, something that leads him to join the rebel group Funeral Parlor and its charismatic leader, Gai Tsutsugami.
Guilty Crown es un anime que destaca en varios aspectos y merece una mirada más detallada. La serie, ambientada en un Japón futurista controlado por el régimen autoritario de GHQ, presenta una trama donde Shu Ouma, un estudiante aparentemente ordinario, adquiere un misterioso poder llamado el Poder del Rey. Este le permite extraer Voids, manifestaciones físicas de los corazones de las personas, algo que lo lleva a unirse al grupo rebelde La Funeraria y a su carismático líder, Gai Tsutsugami.

The female protagonist, Inori Yuzuriha, is the lead vocalist of a very popular group called Egoist. She adds an important emotional layer to the development of the story due to her relationship with Shu, however in terms of her development as a character I feel like she fell short. I mean, her presence in the series is only based on Shu leaning on her emotionally and the fact that she is related to Mana Ouma, but nothing more.
La protagonista femenina, Inori Yuzuriha, es la vocalista principal de un grupo muy popular llamado Egoist. Ella añade una capa emocional importante al desarrollo de la historia debido a su relacion con Shu, sin embargo en lo que respecta a su desarrollo como personaje me parece que se quedó corto. Quiero decir, su presencia en la serie se basa solo en que Shu se apoya emocionalmente en ella y en el hecho de que está relacionada con Mana Ouma, pero nada más.

Speaking of other characters, I make special mention to Arisa Kuhouin and Ayase Shinomiya, who have a deep character development due to various circumstances and their decisions have quite a lot of importance in the plot development.
Hablando de otros personajes, hago mencion especial a Arisa Kuhouin y a Ayase Shinomiya, quienes tienen un desarrollo de personaje profundo debido a diversas circunstancias y que sus decisiones tienen bastante importancia en el desarrollo de la trama.

One of the strengths of Guilty Crown is its impressive animation. Produced by Production I.G., this series features detailed designs, eye-catching visual effects and the action sequences are quite fluid. The combat scenes are very well done, mixing dynamic choreography with futuristic sci-fi elements, such as mechas.

Producido por Production I.G., esta serie cuenta con diseños detallados, efectos visuales llamativos y las secuencias de acción son bastante fluidas. The soundtrack, composed by Hiroyuki Sawano, is another highlight. With epic and emotional themes that elevate every crucial moment, the music plays an essential role in the narrative. Songs such as "Euterpe" performed by EGOIST (a band created specifically for the anime) leave a lasting impression on viewers, as well as complementing the melancholic and hopeful atmosphere of the series.
La banda sonora, compuesta por Hiroyuki Sawano, es otro aspecto destacado. Con temas épicos y emotivos que elevan cada momento crucial, la música juega un papel esencial en la narrativa. Although the series may create divided opinions due to certain narrative decisions and character development, there is no denying its ambition. It explores deep themes such as sacrifice, human connection and the consequences of power, adding a rather important emotional component to the plot.
