Plot
World Trigger starts off a bit hazy. One day, a portal to another world opens up, and these alien-like "Neighbors" come through, attacking the city. Sounds pretty serious, right? It is, but the anime kicks off with a “let’s all go to school” vibe.
The main character, Yuma, looks like the most innocent kid in the world. But, man, he’s got some hidden confidence and punch! Then there’s our calm, simple lead, Osamu, whose Trigger-handling skills are like trying to make tea in the kitchen and accidentally causing a gas leak. Osamu may be weak, but he makes up for it with his brains and fighting strategies. That’s a plus point.
There’s an organization called Border that fights these Neighbors. Their uniforms and gadgets make it feel like someone was trying to make a game but ended up with an anime.
Positive Aspects
The positives? The unique power system (Trion, Triggers, etc.) and the strategic battles. It’s not just mindless fighting; you’ve got to use your head. The character development is slow but well done.
Negative Aspects
The negatives? The pacing can be sluggish—sometimes you’re hyped for a fight, and then it cuts to everyone sitting in a board meeting. Another issue is the huge cast of characters; it takes time to figure out who’s who. Also, some episodes are skippable fillers—especially the ones without the English dub—and skipping them doesn’t really affect the story. I skipped those, and it was fine.
Final Verdict
Overall, World Trigger tests your patience at first, but give it time, and it gets fun. It’s the kind of series that sits quietly at the start, then suddenly hits you with an “Oh man, this is awesome!” feeling.
I would rate it 7/10.
Have you already seen this anime? If you have, then definitely comment. If you haven't, then you should definitely watch it.
