I just finished reading the HisokaxMachi smut fanfic story I've been following for months, and I was both happy and sad that it ended. Happy—because it ended satisfyingly, and sad—because an enjoyable story ended. No more monthly updates, but the author said that he'll make another fanfic about them, and I'm really hoping it will be soon. That's why I'm quite inspired to make a HisokaxMachi fanart today because of it. So without further ado, I'll share with you the materials and process of making HisokaxMachi fanart with the apple trend!
Ikuzo!
Materials Needed:
- Watercolor
- Watercolor pencils
- Alcohol markers
- Brush
- Acrylic paint (black and white)
- Masking tape
- Cutter
The Process:
1. First, I did a rough sketch of the apple, Hisoka and Machi. Of course, I have references for them, especially Machi, because I do find her hair tacky to draw.
If you're interested in the references I used, just click their names and you'll be directed to the images.
2. And out of nowhere, an idea came to me, I must try drawing his fingers on her neck (ahhhhh)! So I tried, and when I found it ok, I left it there for the next step.
3. Then I started coloring them. I first colored Hisoka's face with white watercolor, then Machi's face and hair with watercolor pencils and his hands with white watercolor again.
4. Up next is Hisoka's hair, which I color carefully, but before that, I tried all of the alcohol markers in shades of red.
Here's the shades of red(?) I picked. It says coral pink, but it's actually bright red with the tinge of orange...odd.
5. Then I finally colored his hair along with his now dried fingers.
6. Since I'm almost done with them, I proceeded to color the apple.
7. After I colored the inside of the apple, I then proceeded to its outer part. First, I colored it with a red watercolor pencil, then I blended it well with the wet brush. When it's dry, I again colored it with an old red alcohol marker. For its final touch, I added white watercolor on them.
8. When I'm done with the apple, I find the background quite bland, so I tried drawing spiderwebs and also some spiders on it.
9. Before I color the webs, I noticed that Machi's hair wasn't that pink enough, so I again scanned the markers for the shades of pink that would match her hair.
This is the first selection I chose, which didn't color well on my sketchbook's paper. It's much darker there compared to how it looks on the bond paper.
10. Thankfully, I was able to find a lighter shade of pink, which I layered with violet watercolor pencils.
11. With her hair done, I proceed to color the spiderwebs, then the remaining part of Hisoka's clothes.
12. I then added final touches...
13. Finally, the part where my heart beats the fastest—the peeling of masking tape!
Thank goodness! I peeled the tape without peeling also the paper of the sketchbook~ It's done!
I know there's something wrong with Hisoka's face, but I can't point it out until my sister @lilooi the great points it out. It's Hisoka's hair! Supposedly, the length between his brow to his hair isn't wide, but I made it a little bit wider hehe. Anyway, I'm glad I finished it before the sun set because otherwise I couldn't capture the finished work decently. My phone's camera isn't that good at capturing decent pictures at night, so as much as possible, I put a time limit on my drawing. I started drawing maybe past 1:00 in the afternoon, and since I get easily distracted, I stopped more than a couple of times to do other stuff.
As usual, this fan art is far from what I expected it to be, but I'm happy that I was able to release the excitement I felt after finishing their fanfic story. I'm looking forward to reading another fanfic story from that author because he really writes fanfic stories that doesn't tarnish the canon behaviors of the characters. Yes, I've tried reading other fanfic about them, but some author tends to tweak the characters' behavior to fit their plot, so that's quite a letdown for me. But when I encountered and read his HisokaxMachi fanfic story, I was really in love with how he wrote it. So I'm hoping he'll make more stories—especially HisokaxMachi!
Ok, ok—I know I'm quite oversharing, but I do hope you enjoyed and learn something from the process I shared. Thanks, and that would be all for today, minna-san!
