Wiping off the sweat on his forehead, Light made his way out of the court. It's been a month since he found that strange notebook after his afternoon practice. Since that day, he started seeing the weird apparition—a shinigami, it claimed. Ryuk, the shinigami, asked him if he's ready for his match. Light just nodded passively because he's still thinking about something.
His next match started, and once again he found himself making his way towards the court. He expected that this match would be just like usual, but as soon as he saw his opponent, he felt a foreboding aura from him. He felt uneasy by just staring at his seemingly sleep-deprived opponent, but the moment the match began, the boredom that was written in his opponent's face changed. Light was certain that he would win the match; however, as soon as the match began, he felt something.
Doubt... The moment the ball hits his opponent's racket, he suddenly doubts if he can keep up with his forehand strokes. As the game progressed, his breathing became heavy. The moment the ball hit the ground before him, for the first time since he started playing tennis, he felt humiliated. That humiliation heightened the moment their match ended, with him losing after a deuce. That feeling gave birth to something sinister within him.
The night after that match, he stared grimly at the dark notebook. Then a dark idea came to him. He asked Ryuk if he could kill L, his opponent from that earlier match. Seeing his surfacing wickedness, Ryuk said yes; however, it seems that the shinigami wanted thrill, so he added a condition. He could only kill L if he beat him on a match.
He was completely consumed with his desire to eliminate everyone who hinders him from being the best tennis player, so he started his journey on honing further his skill. After beating and killing every tennis player that came in his way, he perfected a move—a stroke, that he thinks, will be enough to beat L. But is that move enough to really beat him? Join Light as he walks towards the dark path of achieving his dream—his dream to be the greatest among the great.
Why sports and supernatural crime thriller-Death Note? So it just came to my mind when I saw a post from my fb feed about Kento Yamazaki and Masataka Kubota from Death Note's 2015 live action. They're in that tennis scene, so I remembered that there was a part where Light and L had a tennis match. I think it would be interesting to see sports anime with supernatural crime thriller genre—so yeah, that's my thought. What are yours, tho? Feel free to share your comment about it. That's all for now, minna~ I hope you enjoyed reading the fanfic plot I made. Ja ne!
