Last May, I did my first-ever anime art collaboration! It was with my dear friend, @suezoe, whom I met here on HIVE, particularly in The Anime Realm community.
The first collaboration we did was made traditionally. She kindly agreed to do it that way because I'm not that familiar with digital drawing. Well, I've tried it using a drawing tab attached to my computer, but it was a hassle to do, so I quit doing so.
However, this time around, I decided to challenge myself again... using my smartphone.
HOW IT STARTED...
Earlier last month, @suezoe sent me a list of the anime she loves. We wanted to make something based on an anime we both love, and upon checking her list, I saw an anime title that means a lot to me. It's Junjou Romantica.
As @suezoe mentioned on her second collaboration post earlier, a lot of BL fans started liking this genre after watching Junjou Romantica. And yes, I'm among them.
When I watched this anime for the first time out of curiosity, I was so hooked that I got trapped in this world... never to be seen again! hahahah exagg! But really, this anime got me into BL, and I've been a fan of the genre since then. :)
Please check @suezoe's post first since she did the initial part of the collab...
LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ANIME!!! :)
I'm in charge of drawing Misaki Takahashi, and here's a gif of my artwork. :)

Junjou Romantica involves three love stories, but the main one is about Misaki Takahashi and Akihiko Usami. The latter is a popular novelist who happens to be Misaki's brother's best friend. Usami ended up becoming Misaki's tutor.
However, when Misaki stumbled upon his latest BL novel, he became more conscious and sensitive around Usami. He also started worrying about Usami's friendship with his brother.
The story was really cute and interesting. Misaki was a naive and innocent bunny, while Usami was a playful and naughty wolf. The other love stories were also entertaining to watch. So, if you're interested, feel free to give it a shot! ^^
HERE'S COMES THE FAN ART!!!
As I've mentioned earlier, @suezoe started the fan art process. When she was done creating her part, she then sent me the file.
Since she's using Medibang Paint, I decided to install it on my phone and take this opportunity to practice digital painting again.

First, I did a draft of a chibi Misaki... My initial draft is so dirty because I'm still trying to get the hang of it. Then, I opened another layer to create a cleaner art line.
As I made progress with my artwork, I also updated Sue with it. There were times when I didn't know what I was doing, so I'd send her a message and ask for guidance. hahaha

Here's the base color of my artwork.
The smartphone screen is so tiny, but drawing on it directly is much easier than using the drawing tablet connected to my computer.
The Medibang Paint app is also relatively easy to use, even for a beginner like me.

Coloring is my favorite part, especially when painting traditionally. After I did the base color, I added some shadows and more details to the artwork.
I did it using 100% opacity, then lowered it to 45% to make it more subtle.

Finally, I added my signature to the artwork. I placed it inside the heart beside Misaki.
It's my first digital art in a long time. I'm happy we chose chibi style for now, since it's much easier to draw. I'm surely going to rechallenge myself soon.
After I finished my part, I sent the file back to Sue, because she's going to make the final touches before we both make our posts about it.
She added a pastel-colored frame around the artwork, and it looked so adorable. Here's the final output below!

Our second collaboration was a success!!! And it's definitely not our last. :)
I'm now encouraged to explore digital drawing more, so I may practice and post them on my @harulovesanime account in the coming days. Of course, I'll continue painting traditionally as well, and will be sharing them on my main account. ^^
I'm excited to do another collaboration with @suezoe in the future. I hope you are, too! Please look forward to seeing more of our work in the days to come! :)
I'll end this post here. Thanks for reading, and see you around! (^^,)/
