Hello and welcome, anime lovers!
I'm here to recommend an anime that I like. It's a shonen genre with strong elements of epic action, drama, and fantasy, with a story that maintains its premise from beginning to end: battles between gods and humans.
This anime is called Shuumatsu no Valkirye (The Valkyrie of the End), also known as Record of Ragnarok. The anime tells us that every 1,000 years, the gods of every existing pantheon, culture, and mythology gather in Valhalla for a conference to decide whether humanity should continue to exist or, on the contrary, be extinguished. At this council chaired by Zeus, all the gods unanimously vote to extinguish humanity, claiming that humans only destroy themselves and others. But before closing the session and proceeding with the annihilation of all humanity, Brunnhilde (a Valkyrie from Norse mythology) speaks in favor of humanity and declares before the gods that humans should have a say in their survival.
Brunnhilde proposes activating Ragnarok, a battle between gods and humans, which surprisingly is stipulated in the constitution of Valhalla, Article No. 62, paragraph 15, ha ha ha, which stipulates a series of one-on-one battles between gods and humans in rounds. With 13 combatants on each side, the first to reach 7 victories wins.
The gods refuse, claiming that humans could never fight against the gods or match them. Brunnhilde, cunning and manipulative as she is, mocks the gods, hurting their ego, saying that they are afraid to face humans. This provokes the fury of all the gods, so to maintain their pride and supremacy, they agree: if humans achieve seven victories before the gods, they may exist for another 1,000 years.
What the gods certainly did not know was that Brunnhilde, first of all, is one of the greatest manipulators in history (she is a little crazy, but it is a good kind of crazy) and secondly, she does not care about destroying the gods to achieve her goal. Is her goal to save humans or is there something else...?
What is clear is that Brunnhilde already had her human champions. From heaven or hell, she would bring them out to fight, and she knew very well what to do to compensate for their human condition in order to overcome the gods, even if she had to turn her own sisters (the Valkyries) into living weapons to achieve it.
Brunnhilde summons to Ragnarok not only heroes of human history, but also the most controversial, mysterious and obscure figures that came into existence. From Lu Bu Fengxian, legendary Chinese warrior, Adam, the first man (a great one, you will understand if you see him),the King Leonidas, the great inventor Nikola Tesla, to the infamous murderer whose identity was never known, Jack the Ripper. All fighting in a great arena, filled with both gods and men, in battles to the death.
Something that the story makes very clear is that whoever dies in Ragnarok, whether human or god, their soul and essence vanishes and ceases to exist forever. For them there is no after, only the nothingness of non-existence. This adds a more dramatic and sad component to the story. Although the essential axis of the story is the fight to the death of the humans for their survival and that of the gods for their supremacy as they begin to see humans as threats, we also see the background and history behind each combatant, their struggles and conflicts, as well as their motivations for fighting.
The sacrifice of the 13 Valkyries, transforming their bodies into weapons to fight hand in hand with humans, is fantastic. For they risk their lives for their love of humanity, because if the human fighter dies, so does their Valkyrie. And while the fights go on, conspiracies, old disputes, betrayals and deceits are unraveled in an apocalyptic event such as Ragnarok.
Now I will say the negative points, which mostly revolve around the animation. The anime doesn't reach the potential of the manga, as there are fights that felt somewhat static and didn't feel like an animated sequence. The animation studio received a lot of criticism for that, plus sometimes it felt like uneven pacing in the fights, which I repeat were mostly the studio's fault. But they have tried to improve over the seasons and they have already changed animation studios . There was also controversy over religious themes, which is why certain religious figures such as Jesus and Confucius were eliminated from the anime.
Even so, it is still a very good anime, with a good story. Currently, it has two complete seasons with a total of 27 episodes and a third season confirmed to premiere this year on Netflix.

Les traigo una recomendación de un anime que me gusta, es de género shonen y contiene fuertes elementos de acción épica, drama y fantasía, con una historia que mantiene de principio a fin su premisa: Peleas entre dioses y humanos.
Este anime se llama Shuumatsu no Valkirye (La Valkyria del Fin), también conocido como Record of Ragnarok. El anime nos cuenta que cada 1000 años los dioses de cada panteón, cultura y mitología existentes se reúnen en el Valhalla en una conferencia para decidir si la humanidad debe seguir existiendo o, por el contrario, deben extinguirla. En este consejo presidido por Zeus, todos los dioses por voto unánime deciden por la extinción de la humanidad, alegando que los humanos solo se destruyen así mismos y a los demás. Pero antes de cerrar la cesión y proceder con la aniquilación de toda la humanidad, Brunnhilde (Valkyria perteneciente a la mitología nórdica) habla en favor de la humanidad y declara ante los dioses, que los humanos deberían poder tener voz en su supervivencia.
Brunnhilde propone activar el Ragnarok, una lucha entre dioses y humanos, que sorpresivamente se encuentra estipulado en la constitución del Valhalla, artículo No 62, párrafo 15, ja, ja, ja, que estipula una serie de enfrentamientos, uno a uno entre dioses y humanos por rondas. Con 13 combatientes de cada bando, el primero en alcanzar las 7 victorias gana.
Los dioses se reúsan, alegando que los humanos jamás podrían luchar contra los dioses ni igualarlos. Brunnhilde con lo astuta y manipuladora que es, se burla de los dioses, hiriendo su ego, diciendo que ellos tenían miedo de enfrentarse a los humanos. Esto provoca la furia de todos los dioses, por lo que para mantener su orgullo y supremacía acceden: Si los humanos logran 7 victorias antes que los dioses, podrán existir por 1000 años más.
Lo que, ciertamente, los dioses no sabían es que Brunnhilde, primero, es de las más grandes manipuladoras de toda la historia (está algo loca, pero es una locura buena) y segundo a ella no le importa acabar con los dioses para alcanzar su objetivo. ¿Su objetivo es salvar a los humanos o hay algo más…?
Lo que sí está claro es que Brunnhilde, ya tenía a sus campeones humanos. Del cielo o del infierno, ella los sacaría para hacerlos luchar y sabía muy bien qué hacer para compensar su condición humana para superar a los dioses, aunque tuviera que convertir a sus propias hermanas (Las Valkyrias) en armas vivientes para lograrlo.
Brunnhilde convoca al Ragnarok no solo a héroes de la historia humana, sino también a las figuras más controvertidas, misteriosas y oscuras que llegaron a existir. Desde Lu Bu Fengxian, legendario guerrero chino, Adán, el primer hombre (un grande, lo entenderán si lo ven),el rey Leónidas, el gran inventor Nikola Tesla, hasta el infame asesino del cual nunca se supo su identidad, Jack el Destripador. Todos peleando en una gran arena, llena tanto de dioses como de hombres, en batallas que son a muerte.
Algo que nos deja muy en claro la historia es que quien muere en el Ragnarok ya sea humano o dios, su alma y su esencia se desvanece y deja de existir para siempre. Para ellos no hay un después, solo la nada de la no existencia. Esto le agrega un componente más dramático a la historia y a la vez triste. Aunque el eje esencial de la historia son las peleas a muerte de los humanos por su supervivencia y la de los dioses por su supremacía a la vez que empiezan a ver a los humanos como amenazas, también se ve el trasfondo y la historia que hay detrás de cada combatiente, sus luchas y sus conflictos, así como sus motivaciones para pelear.
El sacrificio de las 13 Valkyrias, transformando sus cuerpos en armas para luchar de la mano de los humanos, es fantástico. Pues arriesgan sus existencias por su amor a la humanidad, porque si el peleador humano muere, su Valkyria también. Y mientras transcurren los combates, se van desentrañando conspiraciones, antiguas disputas, traiciones y engaños en un evento apocalíptico como lo es el Ragnarok.
Ahora diré los puntos negativos, que mayormente giran en torno a la animación. El anime no llega al potencial del manga, pues hay peleas que se sintieron algo estáticas y no se sentían como una secuencia animada. El estudio de animación recibió muchas críticas por eso, además de que a veces se siente como un ritmo desigual en las peleas, que repito fueron mayormente culpa del estudio. Pero han buscado de mejorar con el pasar de las temporadas y ya cambiaron de estudio de animación. También hubo controversias por temas religiosos, por lo que se eliminaron del anime ciertas figuras religiosas como Jesús y Confucio.
Aun así, no deja de ser un anime muy bueno, con una buena historia. Actualmente, cuenta con dos temporadas completas con un total de 27 episodios y una tercera temporada confirmada para estrenarse este año en Netflix.
