My Interpretation of "The Scream"
Heyho guys, hope you are all well. Today I present you my variation of the well known "the scream" (Edvard Munch).
Some facts behind the original
There are basically only a handful of paintings that are so iconic that are known throughout time: Van Gogh's "Starry Night," da Vinci's "Mona Lisa," and Munch's "The Scream" are just a few examples, which we also all know.
Most of the time such famous artworks are also well studied and researched by art scholars. But every now and then there is something new about the well-known. So also with the work "the scream", because with Edvard Munchs most well-known painting it was fpund a tiny news... a tiny inscription written in pencil, consisting of eight words, in the upper left corner of the frame, to be exact.
"Could only have been painted by a madman":
Eight words, which were written in Norwegian and led to the fact that even among scientists and art lovers alike, discussions were triggered and the question arose:
"Who wrote these words?"
Sure, many (including me at this point) believe that it could only have been Munch himself, but others claim that it was the hand of a vandal.
Besides the question of who it was who scrawled the words in the upper part of the painting, the question also arises: why?
Could it have been the artist himself? But why would he do that?
Edvard Munch was always done to painting and never had any other profession than art itself. Also, Mr. Munch was never married, or had children, and likewise he never stayed long outside his home or studio, so they say.
Further, it is said of him that he was very emotional and also always seemed nervous, according to those who knew him. Perhaps this is related to his childhood? As a child, Munch lost his mother and his sister. Then, when he was 25, his father also died, and when Mr. Munch was 32, a younger brother also died. Could the artist have simply been expressing his emotions of loss? Such deep losses can certainly drive some people mad.
When Munch then painted "The Scream" in 1893, he was inspired by "a touch of melancholy," as one could read in his diary. Because of this and the personal trauma of losing the artist, the painting takes on a sense of alienation, of the abnormal.
Perhaps the viewers and the public found this painting so frightening that the artist felt called upon to add, in a few words, his statement afterwards. Because according to the curators of the Norwegian National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, and where the artwork is also located, Munch added the sentence about 2 years later on the painting. The museum argues that the handwriting is very similar to Munch's handwriting (which can be proved by his legacies, such as letters and diary), but also says that this period also affected the mental state of the artist.
There is no inscription left on my work. I wanted to draw this curious masterpiece once myself.

I have chosen out a more colorful expression of it. There is always light at the end. Even at the and of madness. I like this colorful comic style, hope you too.
