Hey there, folks. I just finished my entry for the Splinterlands Art Contest and am excited to share it with you all. This week, I felt like drawing an aquatic creature so I chose to go back to one of the Water monsters, so I chose the Mischievous Mermaid for this week's contest.
I found Mischievous Mermaid's color palette (the combination of her green skin color and pink hair and fish body) to be quite interesting. That's why I set my goal to recreate those effects perfectly. After all, it was something that I'd never done before - yes, I've worked with pale or such skin colors before, but this one is a little bit unique in its own right.
Since I'd worked on and improved my hair drawing techniques, I knew which parts of her I was gonna focus the most on. I drew the baseline for her hair and used a variety of shades (from bright pink to dark purple) to draw stray strands of her hair. I also used some white curves to highlight a couple of bright strands.
I believe I did somewhat of a good job trying to capture the green/pink combo of her original design with the variety of green shades that I used on her body and face... what do you think? Let me know down in the comments below
