Hello everyone. How are you doing?
I am super excited to be among the winners and I got the second place. Thank you for that.
Here is my drawing for the Splinterlands Art Contest. This week I decided to draw a realistic portrait of one of the old cards that I’ve been thinking of deawing since last week. I just really liked working on the last splinterlads entry that I wanted to make another character that is a demon. The character’s name is “Lord of Fire”. I really liked this character and I wanted to see how this lord would look like if I turn it to a gorgeous girl. You know how much I like to turn male character into females. The character has captivating green eyes. And it is just not the color of the eyes make it mesmerizing but also the two additional ones. And I also liked the horns and the outfit.
I started the painting with a quick sketch of a girl and then drawing the remarkable feature like the horns, outfit, I didn’t change these things, and then I drew the earrings. He has one in each ear but I decided to add another. As for the eyes I drew them much bigger that I usually draw for my characters in my other artworks. He doesn’t have eyebrows in the original art so I was wondering if I should draw them or not. I did but in the end when I finished the painting I decided to erase it because she look so much better without them.
When I completed the sketch, I started with coloring the skin first, any skin colors except natural tones always challenges me. It’s kind of hard for me to find the right colors and make it look very realistic. I prefer natural ones better. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I use those colors more. I used light and dark red to paint the skin. After that I used white color to add the highlights on the skin, around her eyes, nose, lips and ear. Then I started coloring her horns and then add some details on it. Then I went on workin on her eyes. It was my favorite part because the most important feature of this character is her eyes. Four eyes! And for making her eyes stand out more, I decided to draw green eyelashes for her.
After that, It was time to make her hair look more realistic and detailed. So I chose a hair brush and drew the hair strands. When I was done with her hair, I painted earrings for her.
For the background I had several ideas but none of them turned out as I wanted it to be. It was too messy so I decided to paint it red. At first, I colored it green just like her eyes but it made her eyes look less captivating. Red was also just like her skin but anyway it look so much better than the other colors. So finally, I drew some white lightening around her as if it is light. It also looks like as it is a broken mirror. I really liked the ending result. It just turned out as I wanted it to be.
The brushes I used for this portrait are: Derwent brush for doing the sketch, airbrushes for coloring and shading, light brush and hair brush.
I hope you all have enjoined the progress of this painting as much as I enjoyed working on it. It’s one of my favorite artworks I made for participating in Splinterlands Contest.
Now let’s see the progress~~ ^^
