MORWEN💀 Art Contest Rada Quest TCG E-2 🎨

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un nuevo personaje que he realizado para participar en el concurso @RadaQuest segunda edición. Se trata de un ser de la oscuridad que habita en las profundidades de los calabozos de Rada, donde solo reina la oscuridad y el silencio. Su nombre es MORWEN, un ser inquietante de la lámpara. Quería darle una pequeña historia ya que me pareció ir con la temática del juego e incluso en el logo de #Radaquest. Y es que éste es un ser esquelético que viste un abrigo medieval y una capucha que oculta su rostro. En sus manos huesudas, sostiene una lámpara oscura que brilla con una luz intensa, la única fuente de iluminación en el lugar. Con ella, puede detectar y atraer las almas de los prisioneros que han sido encerrados en las sombras, y consumirlas para alimentarse y aumentar su poder. Morwen no distingue entre amigos o enemigos, solo entre almas que puede devorar o no. No le interesan las almas de los animales, solo las de los humanos, los elfos, los enanos, los orcos y otras razas inteligentes. Estas almas son las que le dan fuerza y le permiten sobrevivir en el inhóspito calabozo.

Me pareció genial dibujar un ser esquelético, porque creo que le da un toque de terror y misterio a la facción de la Sombra. Además, me gusta la idea de que la lámpara sea a la vez su tesoro y su maldición, ya que le da un conflicto interno al personaje. Creo que Morwen podría usar su lámpara para atacar, defenderse, iluminar o apagar la luz según la situación. También podría tener alguna habilidad especial relacionada con las almas, como robarlas, intercambiarlas o sacrificarlas.

Today I want to share with you a new character that I have made to participate in the @RadaQuest contest second edition . He is a being of darkness that lives in the depths of the dungeons of Rada, where only darkness and silence reign. His name is Morwen, a haunting being from the lamp. I wanted to give it a little story since it seemed to go with the theme of the game and even the #Radaquest logo. And this is a skeletal being who wears a medieval coat and a hood that hides his face. In his bony hands, he holds a dark lamp that shines brightly, the only source of illumination in the place. With it, he can detect and attract the souls of prisoners who have been locked in the shadows, and consume them to feed himself and increase his power. Morwen does not distinguish between friends or enemies, only between souls he can devour or not. He is not interested in the souls of animals, only those of humans, elves, dwarves, orcs and other intelligent races. These souls are what give him strength and allow him to survive in the inhospitable dungeon.

I thought it was great to draw a skeletal being, because I think it gives a touch of terror and mystery to the Shadow faction. Also, I like the idea of the lamp being both her treasure and his curse, as it gives the character an internal conflict. I think Morwen could use her lamp to attack, defend, illuminate or turn off the light depending on the situation. He might also have some special ability related to souls, such as stealing them, trading them, or sacrificing them.

Etapas del Dibujo/Drawing Stages

Terminé con el boceto en limpio, para el cual utilicé el pincel tipo pelo, que me permite hacer líneas suaves y fluidas. Usé varias capas para hacer cada elemento del ser, como su esqueleto, la lámpara, el abrigo y la capucha, y así poder limpiar algunas líneas sobrantes que no me gustaban. Pase a otra capa con método normal de mezcla a pincelar un color base saturado oscuro para el rostro, porque iba a ser alumbrado por la lámpara. Así seguí pincelando con tonos más oscuros para ubicar algunas sombras, y también para la iluminación. Me tome el tiempo de difuminar los colores con una brocha suave, para crear un efecto más realista. En varias capas fui definiendo un poco más el rostro con trazos finos muy claros y otros más oscuros para las endiduras. Así seguí pincelando en otra capa con líneas un poco más iluminadas para dar mayor profundidad. Limpié con borrador los bordes que quedaban fuera del rostro, y me gustó agregarle un turquesa a los ojos, para que resaltaran más.

I finished with the clean sketch, for which I used the hair type brush, which allows me to make soft and fluid lines. I used several layers to make each element of the being, such as its skeleton, lamp, coat and hood, so I could clean up some extra lines that I didn't like. Go to another layer with normal mixing method to brush a dark saturated base color for the face, because it was going to be illuminated by the lamp. So I continued brushing with darker tones to place some shadows, and also for lighting. I took the time to blend the colors with a soft brush, to create a more realistic effect. In several layers I defined the face a little more with very light fine lines and darker ones for the crevices. So I continued brushing on another layer with slightly more illuminated lines to give greater depth. I erased the edges that were outside the face with an eraser, and I liked to add turquoise to the eyes, so that they stood out more.

Seguí con un color base para la lámpara, que elegí de un amarillo anaranjado, para que contrastara con lo oscuro del fondo. Agregué varias tonalidades saturadas entre claras y oscuras, para crear el volumen y el brillo de la lámpara. Apliqué difuminado para mezclar y suavizar los colores, y seguí con el borrador para limpiar y definir la forma de la lámpara. Luego oscurecí el fondo un poco más, para que la lámpara se viera más luminosa. Después empece en otra capa a agregar un color base para el abrigo y la capucha, elegí un gris oscuro, para que se viera como una tela pesada y gruesa. Con el fondo di algunas pinceladas turquesas, para crear un reflejo de la luz del entorno. Difuminé los colores, y en otra capa empecé a crear los pliegues del abrigo con la misma brocha plano real, que me permite hacer líneas más definidas y duras. Usando varias capas y difuminando fui logrando el relieve y la textura del abrigo. Agregué una iluminación turquesa por detrás de la capucha, para que se viera por su oscuro entorno.

I continued with a base color for the lamp, which I chose an orange-yellow, so that it contrasted with the dark background. I added several saturated tones between light and dark, to create the volume and brightness of the lamp. I applied feathering to blend and soften the colors, and followed up with the eraser to clean up and define the shape of the lamp. Then I darkened the background a little more, to make the lamp look brighter. Then I started on another layer to add a base color for the coat and hood, I chose a dark gray, so that it looked like a heavy and thick fabric. With the background I gave some turquoise brushstrokes, to create a reflection of the surrounding light. I blended the colors, and on another layer I began to create the folds of the coat with the same real flat brush, which allows me to make more defined and harder lines. Using several layers and blending I achieved the relief and texture of the coat. I added turquoise lighting behind the hood, so it could be seen in its dark surroundings.

Finalmente fui aplicando los métodos de mezcla luz suave y superposición, para realzar la saturación y el contraste de los colores. Seguí con capas añadir, para agregar unos brillos en los ojos y en la lámpara, que le dan más vida y magia al dibujo. Fui aplicando varios ajustes con el programa que me gustaron, como crear un efecto de alejamiento con una herramienta en ajuste, que hace que el rostro se vea más cercano y la capucha más lejana, y también la herramienta licuar, que me permite deformar y corregir algunas partes del dibujo.

Finally I applied the soft light mixing and overlay methods to enhance the saturation and contrast of the colors. I continued with adding layers, to add some sparkles in the eyes and in the lamp, which give more life and magic to the drawing. I was applying various adjustments with the program that I liked, such as creating a zoom out effect with an adjustment tool, which makes the face look closer and the hood further away, and also the liquefy tool, which allows me to deform and correct some parts of the drawing.

Me gustó mucho como quedó este personaje a pesar del corto tiempo que le dedique, creo que logré la sensación de misterio y fantasía que quería como a la temática de Rada Quest, y aparte que aprendí a aplicar otras herramientas.
