Sometimes I think I'm obsessed with graffiti, but I also recognize that it's my escape.
Digital Graffiti.
I'm sure that more than one of us who likes to draw lines, whether with a pencil, pen, brush, or spray paint, started in this world of art and expression at a young age simply because we enjoyed it. I sometimes remember coming home from school and going straight to find a pencil and a notebook suitable for drawing. I've always had a taste for cartoons, and I remember that when I was a child, I really liked drawing cars, but as an adult, I got into the world of graffiti, the world of urban culture, and everything that goes with underground hip hop. All of this led me to become a graffiti writer, which I have been for over a decade now.
Currently, the difficulty in carrying out this work is not the people or the authorities, but other circumstances that previously made artistic work difficult and at the same time inspired those artists of vandalism, those graffiti artists who think more about description than construction. Personally, since I started in this world of graffiti, I have done it when I have the autonomy to simply do something I like.
I avoid getting involved in war zones, much less political or religious ones.
That is why I say that art is a way to free our thoughts, to escape from that reality that we sometimes dislike, and for me, graffiti has been that way.
As I said before, the current difficulty in doing this is not a problem of authority but a problem of materials due to their cost. Many of us have been limited. For example, I have been doing this art for a decade, writing my name on walls, and I have not yet been able to create a graffiti piece where you can appreciate high-contrast letters, many details, or a well-done cartoon. I have not been able to do that either. I have not been able to create a graffiti piece where I draw a thematic background, whether , whether it be a landscape or anything else we can imagine as a background. In other words, I have not been able to create a thematic graffiti piece, and it is not because I lack the skills. It is simply that I do not have the materials, and sometimes when I do have paint, most of it comes from leftover work, and sometimes I beg for it. Therefore, when I do have the materials, little by little, most of them are leftovers that do not come in their original packaging, so they must be used quickly, otherwise they will be damaged and impossible to use. But for some time now, I've been creating different designs on my cell phone.
And this is what I am presenting to you today this digital graffiti with a background. I know I have presented this background to you before, but with a totally different design. I have not yet been able to carry out the advertising campaign that I will do for Hive with the DUO team, who are the guest authors, but this project is going smoothly.
I use an app that is very uncommon among artists because it is a photo editor, but it allows me to easily arrange layers. It has different brush styles as well as some effects that help me when creating these designs, and little by little I have been learning how to better use the app to add more colors and effects. We know that the visual impact of well-done graffiti is based on the contrast of its colors and also on the sharpness and solidity of its lines
The design has my name written on it, as always, using the letter f inverted or backwards to create a visual effect of symmetry and at the same time make the name a little more difficult to read
I hope you like my design, and I would love it if you took a look at my previous post, which also discusses topics related to graffiti.
With love from Venezuela to everyone who can read this abroad, and especially to my fellow artists here in the country. Strength, resistance, and encouragement to all of you. A big hug.
