Welcome everyone, I hope you are feeling well. A couple of days ago the long awaited Splinterlands weekly art contest started, and to my surprise, I have been mentioned again in this week's challenge! This is the second time I've received this mention, also consecutively, which fills me with joy and motivation.

As is tradition, I set out to explore the Splinterlands universe in search of a card that would inspire me to participate in this new edition of the challenge. After a rather extensive search, I finally found a creature that completely captured my attention - Cruel Sethropod.

This peculiar character is part of the Water splinter and has an appearance reminiscent of a shrimp and I wanted to do it my way.

Bienvenidos a todos, espero que se encuentren bien. Hace un par de días comenzó el esperado concurso semanal de arte de Splinterlands, y para mi sorpresa, ¡he sido mencionado nuevamente en el reto de esta semana! Esta es la segunda vez que recibo esta mención, además de forma consecutiva, lo cual me llena de alegría y motivación.

Como es tradición, me lancé a explorar el universo de Splinterlands en busca de una carta que me sirviera de inspiración para participar en esta nueva edición del reto. Después de una búsqueda bastante extensa, finalmente encontré una criatura que capturó por completo mi atención: Cruel Sethropod.

Este peculiar personaje forma parte del splinter de Agua y tiene una apariencia que recuerda a la de un camarón y lo quise realizar a mi manera.

"And I ventured round to yon starboard side, scrubbing the barnacles and what have ye off the hull,” the old sailor said. He had gray hair and a long, grizzly beard and wore tattered leather breeches and a shirt that might have been white once but had faded to a dull color that was somewhere between gray and brown.

His young nephew, who had arrived in Praetoria from Azmare the night before, yawned. His parents had left him at his uncle's little shack while they went out to get the lay of the town. Now, they at the kitchen table, the old sailor sipping from a mug of ale and his young nephew wishing he was at the beach, swimming in the ocean and chasing girls instead of listening to his uncle's boring stories. He'd told the man as much, which is what prompted the old sailor's latest tale.

“Cruel Sethropods ain't from around here, ya ken,” the old sailor said with a belch, and his young nephew grimaced in disgust. “They came whence the Chaos Legion came. Invasive little buggers spread fast. Hadn't heard naught but rumors afore.

Well, I was maybe waist high in the water, scrubbing at them barnacles, when one swam up out of the water and latched onto my chest. Tried to pull me under. Woulda' had me for lunch if I hadn't had my wits about me. I drew my daggers and jammed 'em hilt-deep into its eyes. Still, it stayed on, with them teeth deep in my skin. Staggered into town, I did, and the doc had to cut the damnable thing off with a hacksaw."

Llegué al pueblo tambaleándome, y el doctor tuvo que cortar esa maldita cosa con una sierra para metales."

To bring this illustration to life, I first immersed myself in a visual quest. I wanted to capture the essence of a shrimp, so I started by collecting references that would help me better understand its shapes, textures and movements. Once I found an image that brought together the most representative characteristics of this crustacean, I went on to merge it with the unique traits of the Cruel Sethropod character from Splinterlands.

My goal was to achieve a creature that felt authentic within the game's universe, but also to bring something of its own: an artistic interpretation that had character and depth.

The creative process took about seven hours, between sketches and color application. In the end, I achieved a piece that reflects my vision of the character. I hope you enjoy the images that capture the evolution of the character.

Para dar vida a esta ilustración, me sumergí primero en una búsqueda visual. Quería captar la esencia de un camarón, así que comencé recopilando referencias que me ayudaran a entender mejor sus formas, texturas y movimientos. Una vez que encontré una imagen que reunía las características más representativas de este crustáceo, pasé a fusionarla con los rasgos únicos del personaje Cruel Sethropod de Splinterlands.

Mi objetivo era lograr una criatura que se sintiera auténtica dentro del universo del juego, pero también aportar algo propio: una interpretación artística que tuviera carácter y profundidad.

El proceso creativo duró alrededor de siete horas, entre bosquejos y la aplicación de color. Finalmente, logré una pieza que refleja mi visión del personaje. Espero que disfruten las imágenes que capturan la evolución del personaje.

Process

In the initial sketching phase, I began by drawing several guide lines until I reached a convincing resemblance to the reference image I had chosen. To continue with the coloring stage and apply the shadows by combining several colors.

En la fase inicial del boceto, comencé delineando varias líneas guía hasta alcanzar una semejanza convincente con la imagen de referencia que había elegido. Para seguir con la etapa del coloreado e ir aplicando las sombras combinando varios colores.
