Welcome everyone, I hope you are feeling well. Tomorrow marks the conclusion of the exciting weekly art contest organized by Splinterlands, and I was encouraged to participate once again in this vibrant competition that celebrates game-inspired creativity. Each week represents a new opportunity to discover and explore the fascinating diversity of characters that inhabit this world of Splinterlands, which continues to expand with fresh collections and cards that are constantly being added.

On this occasion, I went in search of a card that would not only serve as inspiration, in this week's art challenge. That's how I came across an imposing and majestic creature: Frost Lion. This character belongs to the Water splinter, and its captivating design represents a lion formed of ice, with a powerful presence that enchanted me from the first moment.

It was this card that prompted me to transform it to my style. I am very excited to share the final result soon and to continue adding experiences in this enriching contest.

Mañana concluye el emocionante concurso semanal de arte organizado por Splinterlands, y me animé a participar una vez más en esta vibrante competencia que celebra la creatividad inspirada en el juego. Cada semana representa una nueva oportunidad para descubrir y explorar la fascinante diversidad de personajes que habitan este mundo de Splinterlands, el cual continúa expandiéndose con colecciones frescas y cartas que se suman constantemente.

En esta ocasión, me dediqué a buscar una carta que no solo sirviera de inspiración, en el reto artístico de esta semana. Así fue como me encontré con una criatura imponente y majestuosa: Frost Lion. Este personaje pertenece al splinter de Agua, y su diseño cautivador representa a un león formado de hielo, con una presencia poderosa que me encantó desde el primer momento.

Fue esta carta la que me impulsó a transformarla a mi estilo. Estoy muy emocionado por compartir pronto el resultado final y seguir sumando experiencias en este concurso tan enriquecedor.

"The vast plain of frost that sits in the shadow of Mount Maka is a cold and brutal place. It is there that the massive arena of Ninhelm sits, reserved for battles with the largest monsters in the Splinterlands. Besides those who live beneath the surface, the only creatures that survive in this land have frost and ice in their blood. Through the generations of evolution, they have developed sustainable sub-zero body temperatures and immunities to frostbite. The extreme cold has also slowed the metabolism of these frost animals, so the larger beasts have been able to thrive when less food is available. Among the animals who live on the ice shelf, the great Frost Lions are king."

"La vasta llanura helada que se asienta a la sombra del Monte Maka es un lugar frío y brutal. Allí se encuentra la enorme arena de Ninhelm, reservada para batallas con los monstruos más grandes de las Tierras Astilladas. Además de quienes viven bajo la superficie, las únicas criaturas que sobreviven en esta tierra tienen escarcha y hielo en la sangre. A lo largo de generaciones de evolución, han desarrollado temperaturas corporales estables bajo cero e inmunidad a la congelación. El frío extremo también ha ralentizado el metabolismo de estos animales helados, por lo que las bestias más grandes han podido prosperar cuando hay menos alimento disponible. Entre los animales que viven en la plataforma de hielo, los grandes Leones de Hielo son los reyes."

To start this illustration, I embarked on a visual search to help me build a reference. I focused on images of majestic lions that conveyed power and elegance, and also explored various Pokémon designs that shared similar traits: creatures with imposing presence and stylized details. After reviewing numerous options, I finally found an illustration that captured the essence I was looking for, serving as an ideal starting point.

With the reference defined, I launched into the sketching process. I began by sketching the baselines of the character, striving to preserve the proportions and visual character of a formidable lion. To add further depth and conceptual consistency, I incorporated elements directly inspired by the story and backstory of the Frost Lion card.

This creative journey took me about seven hours, every moment invested with attention to detail. Now that the work is finished, I'm pleased to share with you the images documenting the evolution of the character - from the first strokes to its final form - and I hope you enjoy the result as much as I enjoyed the process.

Para dar inicio a esta ilustracion, me embarqué en una búsqueda visual que me ayudara a construir una referencia. Me enfoqué en imágenes de leones majestuosos que transmitieran poder y elegancia, y también exploré varios diseños de Pokémon que compartieran rasgos similares: criaturas con presencia imponente y detalles estilizados. Tras revisar numerosas opciones, finalmente encontré una ilustración que capturaba la esencia que estaba buscando, sirviendo como punto de partida ideal.

Con la referencia definida, me lancé al proceso de bocetado. Comencé trazando las líneas base del personaje, esforzándome por preservar las proporciones y el carácter visual de un león formidable. Para añadir mayor profundidad y coherencia conceptual, incorporé elementos inspirados directamente en la historia y el trasfondo de la carta Frost Lion.

Este viaje creativo me tomó cerca de siete horas, cada momento invertido con atención al detalle. Ahora que la obra está terminada, me complace compartir con ustedes las imágenes que documentan la evolución del personaje —desde los primeros trazos hasta su forma final— y espero que disfruten tanto del resultado como yo disfruté del proceso.

Process

In the initial phase of the drawing, I focused on the development of the sketch, starting by drawing multiple guide lines that would allow me to establish the essential shape and proportions of the character. These lines guided me until I achieved a convincing resemblance to the reference image I had previously selected. This step was critical to ensure a guideline that reflected both the essence of the design.

Once satisfied with the sketch, I moved on to the color stage, where the real transformation of the drawing began. I used a carefully selected palette and began to apply layers of color, combining different tones to provide depth. In parallel, I incorporated strategic shadows and plays of light that helped to highlight the volume and texture of the character. I did this mixture to achieve a semi-realism in this type of illustration, thus applying a certain style.

En la fase inicial del dibujo, me centré en el desarrollo del boceto, comenzando por trazar múltiples líneas guía que me permitieran establecer la forma y proporciones esenciales del personaje. Estas líneas fueron de guias hasta lograr una semejanza convincente con la imagen de referencia que había seleccionado previamente. Este paso fue fundamental para asegurar una guia que reflejara tanto la esencia del diseño.

Una vez satisfecho con el boceto, avancé hacia la etapa de color, donde comenzó la verdadera transformación del dibujo. Utilicé una paleta cuidadosamente seleccionada y comencé a aplicar capas de color, combinando distintos tonos para aportar profundidad. En paralelo, fui incorporando sombras estratégicas y juegos de luces que ayudaron a resaltar el volumen y la textura del personaje. Esta mezcla lo hice para conseguir un semirealismo en este tipo de ilustracion, aplicando asi un cierto estilo.
