From Afar - a Blaze In the Desert | A Mixed Media Art Project for INKTOBER 2024 PROMPT [#13 - Horizon]

I want to share with you my interpretation of Inktober Prompt #13 - Horizon. In developing the theme, my thoughts turned to contrasting events occurring simultaneous in a place where opposite elements don't normally thrive. To feel alive in a desolate place is a wonder in itself. Thriving among the cacti, blistering temperatures, and harsh elements would render one desperate to abandon the place.

Nothing stirs the senses and imagination as does fire. And to that end, a fiery scene. People wonder what happened to cause this. Then, they gasp in horror that subsides into prayers hoping no one was injured.

Still others may simple see fire as a cleansing; a washing away of the old and bringing in the new. It's all about perspective.

However, over the horizon peace beckons. So, she basks in the sun.

Below is my project for Inktober Prompt #13.

I envisioned in the horizon theme a fiery scene across the horizon. It's a contrast; one side calm and peaceful; the other; seemingly in turmoil. To accomplish this contrast, I paired a serene desert background with a fiery female surrounded by chaos. The chaos was created with my pure fractals I designed in Apophysis 7X, the advanced fractal rendering program. Below are elements I included in my theme.

I then uploaded my images into Canva. my design studio in order to blend the images. This program affords me the tools to resize, remove backgrounds, colorize, filter, and reposition my images. In addition, I have at my disposal the free templates and elements to create the backgrounds from my scenes or add additional images. Below are my steps in pictures.
