I Only Have Eyes For You (Poem) | A Mixed Media Art Project

In designing my current mixed media art project, I envisioned a couple, one looming large over the relationship, confident in his ability to control the situation. Taking but not giving causes doubt in the partner.

In order to capture the essence of domination without expressing love, I needed to have the male presence large, while the female facial feature is small. The male's mind is is in a constant state of change. He can't come to a decision regarding his feelings.

I hope I accomplished my vision. Below are my procedures.

Step 1: Fractal => Animation

I knew I wanted an animated project. With my pure fractal, I enlisted the aid of Deep Dream Generator, an image filtering program, that incorporated the diffusion and video creation resources to create simple, but stunning animations from the images. DDG produces a 5sec animation to use either alone or with other programs to add your own creative touch. A single image is easy to accomplish.

Step 2: Animation => Blending

I didn't have a feel yet how I would use the animated fractal. I just uploaded it into Canva, my design program, to have available if the image worked with my mixed media art project depicting the interaction between a couple in which one exhibited doubts about the relationship.

First, I created the male/female scene.

Layers of elements were used in accordance with my upgraded Annual Pro Membership that includes tools to remove backgrounds, resize, filter, duplicate, and reposition items as required.

• To a blank, white canvas, I added the elongated man's head;
• Added the female face. Positioned under the male, leaning back slightly;
• Added an eye to the male's head turned as though looking away;
• Added the background fractals and resized them.
• Added a free Canva image to add a pop of color in various shades as though the eye is reflecting into the mind and then outward.

Next, I added the animated fractal to the back of the man's head. This display showed doubts about the relationship, his mind constantly in turmoil.

I like how Deep Dream handled the text prompt to rotate the fractal, occasionally in opposite directions. This certainly promotes confusion.
