Universal Coffee Break - A Starbuzz Adventure | A Mixed Media Art Project for INKTOBER 2024 | PROMPT #2 - Discover

I was excited to read the list of prompts for Inktober 2024 and decided to participate again this year. I want to share with you my interpretation of Prompt #2 - Discover.

In developing the theme, I thought about my love of coffee. As I understand it, coffee drinking is a universal activity. While the types of coffee and the method of drinking it may differ from country to country, we can all agree that whether alone or in a group with social interactions surrounding this activity, our love of coffee will endure.

It's no wonder that coffee drinking in one of the most famous establishments to consume this drink has reached beyond our world. I've given my take on this activity in my theme "Universal Coffee Break - A Starbuzz Adventure".

Below is my project for Inktober Prompt #2.

Universal Coffee Break - A Starbuzz Adventure

"Syphus, coordinates please, Captain Oriz queried cautiously. His head jerked sharply as he turned to hide his anticipation. Breathing deeply, he inhaled the rich aroma of arabica coffee beans tucked away in his sensory glands.

"We're a par sec away sir," Syphus interrupted, then responded with a grin.

The starcraft's console beeped to alert them of the transmission coordinates. They'd land soon, far away from their home planet. But Captain Oriz didn't heed the warning to avoid that sector. He was headed toward the far side of his galaxy.

The traders he encountered that day while patrolling the galaxy wouldn't willingly divulge the location of the planet where they confiscated the coffee beans. The traders did, however, report on the planet's love of this product and how it was consumed.

"Disengage from headquarters," Oriz ordered. He didn't consider that his orders didn't allow him outside his own planet's orbit. If I'm correct that this species will do no harm, then I'll be a hero to bring the coffee experience to my world.

For that, Captain Oriz would risk his career just to sip a cup of latte at a Starbuzz cafe with Syphus.

In case his journey proved life changing for his world, he documented the visit.

Captain Oriz wasn't disappointed as the coffee lived up to its reputation.

I designed my mixed media art project utilizing a stable diffusion image from StaryAI as the background of my theme. The image was perfect to illustrate how the aliens transported to Earth and beamed down to enjoy the coffee break. All was needed was a spacecraft and the aliens sitting in a coffee shop. I was lucky to locate those items to complete my theme.

I then uploaded my images into Canva. I use this program as my design studio to blend the images and create an awesome scene. This program affords me the tools to resize, remove backgrounds, colorize, filter, and reposition my images. In addition, I have at my disposal the free templates and elements to create the backgrounds from my scenes or add additional images. Below are my steps in pictures.
