¡Hola! Les traigo mi primera participación en el Splinterlands Art Contest .Y ¡estoy muy emocionado! Soy fanático de los cráneos, de hecho tengo dos tatuados ja ja ja. Así que la carta que elegí para mi primera entrada es la EVER-HUNGRY SKULL una carta común de tipo DEATH, cuyo lore me parece interesante.
Hello, I bring you my first participation in the Splinterlands Art Contest and I'm very excited! I'm a fan of skulls, in fact I have two tattooed ha ha ha. So the card I chose for my first entry is the EVER-HUNGRY SKULL a common DEATH type card, whose lore I find interesting.
Como ya les mencione me gustan mucho los cráneos y es un tema recurrente en muchas de mis ilustraciones, al mismo tiempo los vampiros también me gustan, así que la idea de pintar el cráneo de un vampiro reanimado me emociono mucho. Me tomé unas libertades creativas y al conocer que las cartas de Splinterlands poseen una variante dorada quise incluir eso a la ilustración haciendo el cráneo dorado y agregándole una especie de capa roja intensa hecha de humo para darle un toque como de un lord vampiro y un fondo oscuro con unos pequeños toques de azul la combinación de los tres colores primarios no suele fallar.
As I already mentioned I like skulls a lot and it is a recurring theme in many of my illustrations, at the same time I also like vampires, so the idea of painting the skull of a reanimated vampire made me very excited. I took some creative liberties and knowing that Splinterlands cards have a golden variant I wanted to include that to the illustration making the golden skull and adding a kind of intense red cape made of smoke to give it a touch of a vampire lord and a dark background with a little touch of blue, the combination of the three primary colors usually does not fail.
Les explicaré un poco el proceso, el boceto fue un pequeño reto porque quería que tuviera una vista superior del cráneo porque se vería genial con la capa debajo, ya con el cráneo más o menos como lo quería, ahora tocaba la capa, quería algo extravagante y llamativo, me inspire un poco en las capas de héroes de comics como el de Spawn y Doctor Strange.
I will explain a little bit the process, the sketch was a little challenge because I wanted to have a top view of the skull because it would look great with the cape underneath, now with the skull more or less as I wanted it, now I had to do the cape, I wanted something extravagant and flashy, I was inspired a little bit in the capes of comic heroes like Spawn and Doctor Strange.
Use varios métodos para hacer la forma como de humo primero coloque una imagen de humo sobre la capa base y con ayuda del modo de capa screen cree la base de lo que quería, desde allí uní las capas y sobre eso pinte con varios pinceles con opacidad y otro con textura de humo que me vino muy bien fui ajustando los tonos y las áreas de la capa para que permitiera ver un poco del fondo como una transparencia. Ya con la capa lista solo quedaba renderizar las luces, los reflejos y los ojos que tanto llaman la atención. Ya con todo listo duplique y junte todas las capas y le agregue un desenfoque de movimiento y con una máscara borre la parte central del dibujo desenfocado, revelando la capa inferior sin modificar y dando ese resultado de desenfoque a los lados y la parte superior, ya como paso final una capa de ajuste de balance para darle un poquito más de saturación y listo.

I used several methods to make the smoke like shape, first I placed a smoke image over the base layer and with the help of screen layer mode I created the base of what I wanted, from there I joined the layers and over that I painted with several brushes with opacity and another one with smoke texture that was very good for me, I was adjusting the tones and the areas of the layer to allow to see a little of the background as a transparency. Once the layer was ready, I only had to render the lights, the reflections and the eyes that attract so much attention. With everything ready I duplicated and merged all the layers and added a motion blur and with a mask I erased the central part of the blurred drawing, revealing the lower layer without modifying and giving that result of blur to the sides and the top, and as a final step a balance adjustment layer to give it a little more saturation and ready.
