Heyyy very good afternoon my dear readers, my name is Manuel and as always I want to welcome you to my art blog, this time I am here to share my latest illustration for the contest and dynamic of every week in the community of #Splinterlands; I was looking since last week and trying to choose a very cool one to illustrate my style and among all I found the letter of (Zalran Efreet). This character of (Zalran Efreet) is very interesting because he is a powerful wizard of a well known and respected clan, his abilities are based on the power of the Puyo stone, which emphasizes and enhances his powerful and fiery powers; I hope you like it a lot and without further ado I leave you with the process of this drawing:
Heyyy muy buenas tardes mis queridos lectores y lectores, mi nombre en Manuel y como siempre les quiero dar la bienvenida a mi blog de arte, en esta oportunidad me encuentro por aquí para compartir mi última ilustración para el concurso y dinámica de todas las semanas en la comunidad de #Splinterlands; estuve viendo desde la semana pasada y tratando de escoger alguna muy cool para poder ilustrar a mi estilo y entre todas me encontré con la carta de (Zalran Efreet). Este personaje de (Zalran Efreet) es full interesante ya que se trata de un poderoso hechicero de un clan muy conocido y respetado, sus habilidades se basan el poder de la piedra Puyo, la cual enfatiza y potencia sus poderosos y ardientes poderes; espero les guste mucho y sin mas los dejo con el proceso de este dibujo:
One of the reasons for choosing this card, besides the story and review, is because I had already participated several times with female characters and I wanted to vary a little, and normally with these male characters I don't work much on the softness and delicacy of the skin, but I concentrate more on details such as clothing and so on; I liked an orange tone that I had in my color palette and I worked the skin with it to try to build a more tanned complexion, for the details of lights and shadows I used my watercolor brush and layer by layer I was building some volume to give him (Zalran) and great and notorious musculature especially in his torso. I finished some details of the skin with some shadows more or less deep and also with a few shadows of occlusion under the jaw and between the arms and ribs, and then with the skin ready I continued with the painting of the eyes; in the eyes I decided to follow my inspiration and that is that in the letter the character of Zalran has his eyes closed so I had no idea what color they were, that's why I had the idea of creating them completely white, ie without pupils to later add a bright touch or something like that.
Una de las razones para elegir esta carta además de por su historia y reseña es porque ya llevaba varias participaciones con personajes femeninos y quise variar un poco, y normalmente con estos personajes masculinos no trabajo mucho la suavidad y delicadeza de la piel, sino que me concentro más en detalles como la vestimenta y demás; me gusto una tonalidad naranja que tenia en mi paleta de colores y trabaje la piel con ella para así tratar de construir una tez un tanto mas bronceada, para los detalles de luces y sombras use mi pincel de acuarela y capa por capa fui construyendo cierto volumen que le dieran a (Zalran) y gran y notorio musculatura sobre todo en su torso. Culmine algunos detalles de la piel con algunas sombras mas o menos profundas y también con pocas sombras de oclusión debajo de la quijada y entre los brazos y las costillas, ya luego con la piel lista continúe con el pintado de los ojos; en los ojos decidí seguir mi inspiración y es que en la carta el personaje de Zalran tiene sus ojos cerrados por lo cual no tenia idea que color eran, fue por ello me tuve la idea de crearlos completamente blancos, es decir sin pupilar para más adelante añadir algún toque brillante o algo por el estilo.
The construction and painting of the costume was done in several sections, for the part of the legs I created a kind of loose pants of intermediate greenish blue color with the help of my watercolor brush, then in a new layer and with a pasty green tone which I normally use in my work to paint trees I created a kind of tunic around the waist and that fell on the legs of (Zalran Efreet); Here I must confess that it took me a while because first I created the tunic and then I was giving the golden details and lines on the edges, my intention was that especially these parts were bright and flashy. After finishing with the part of the legs I continued with the painting of the cape and other details in fabric, for the cape I used an intense red tone that I like a lot and I created it relatively short, not beyond the length of the hips, but wide enough to the shoulders.
La construcción y pintado del traje la realice en varias secciones, para la parte de las piernas cree una especie de pantalón holgado de color azul verdoso intermedio con ayuda de mi pincel de acuarela, luego en una nueva capa y con un tono verde pastoso el cual normalmente uso en mis obra para pitar arboles cree una especie de túnica alrededor de la cintura y que cayera sobre las piernas de (Zalran Efreet); aquí si debo confesar me demore un tanto ya que primero cree la túnica y luego le fui dando los detalles dorados y líneas en la parte de los bordes, mi intención era que sobre todo estas parte quedaran bien brillantes y llamativas. Después de finalizar con la parte de las piernas continúe con el pintado de la capa y demás detalles en tela, para la capa use un tono rojo intenso que me gusta mucho y la cree relativamente corta, no más allá del largo de las caderas, pero si bastante ancha hasta los hombros.
For the accessories of the arms I worked with mystic textures, first I gave some rounded volume to the earrings around his biceps with a color very similar to his pants, then for the part of the bracelets on the forearms I used a flat brush and with orange color I worked the base of the bracelets little by little until I managed to create some shiny highlights as if they were made of gold; finally I created a couple of layers in bright mode and I finished giving the final texture to all the jewelry of the costume. I did the hair using a fine tip brush, with the brown color I painted the entire base of the hair leaving the ends quite open for a little messy hair, then with airbrush I worked very well the volume from the inside out to achieve a little fluffiness; finally I dedicated myself entirely to the coarse and for this I used the same base brush, but I adjusted a little the opacity so that the strokes blend and unite smoothly with each other, thanks to that I did not have to vary too much the shades and of course the barbe was quite bushy on the sides and the mustache.
Para los accesorios de los brazos trabaje con texturas mistas, primero le di cierto volumen redondeado a los aros que lleva alrededor de sus bíceps con un color muy similar al de su pantalón, luego para la parte de los brazaletes en los antebrazos use un pincel plano y con color naranja fui trabajando la base de los brazaletes poco a poco hasta que lograra crear unos brillos bastante resaltantes como estuvieran hechos de oro; finalmente cree un par de capas en modo bright y culmine de darle la textura final a toda la joyería del traje. El cabello lo hice usando un pincel de punta fina, con el color marrón pinte toda la base del pelo dejando las puntas bastante abiertas para un pelo un poco desordenado, luego con aerógrafo trabaje muy bien el volumen desde adentro hacia afuera para lograr un poco es esponjosidad; finalmente me dedique enteramente a la basta y para esto use el mismo pincel base, pero ajuste un poco la opacidad para que los trazos se mezclaran y unieran suavemente entre sí, gracias a eso no tuve que variar demasiado las tonalidades y por supuesto la barbe quedo bastante tupida hacia los lados y el bigote.
For the final part I dedicated myself entirely to paint a lot of fire all over the canvas to give a little more sense to the character of the wizard, for this first I focused on the background fire, first I created a medium orange base and then I detailed the edges with a very dark orange to give a little shape, then from the middle part I painted the yellow tones in an ascending way until I got right to where the flames originate; I had to blur a little with the gaussian blur so that the flames did not look flat and inanimate and then with airbrush I created a small trail of heat around the edge of the flames and darkened a little more the background. Then I created a couple of flames of fire running through the hands of (Zalran Efreet), here I repeated the same process as for the background, but I added a couple of Shine layer effects in orange and then yellow to make these flames look closer to the eye and of course more alive; and finally and as I said before for the eyes I had planned to create a subtle lighting to give a little more epicity to the character, in this case with airbrush I illuminated the eyes as if they were also burning with fire.
Para la parte final me dedique enteramente a pintar mucho fuego en todo el lienzo para darle un poco más de sentido al personaje del hechicero, para esto primero me enfoque en el fuego del background, primero cree una base de color naranja medio y luego detalle los bordes con un naranja muy oscuro para dar un poco de forma, luego desde la parte del medio plasme los tonos amarillos de manera ascendente hasta llegar justo a donde se originan las llamas; tuve que difuminar un poco con el desenfoque gaussiano para que las flamas no se vieran planas e inanimadas y ya después con aerógrafo cree una pequeña estela de calor por todo el borde de las flamas y oscurecí un poco mas el fondo. Luego cree un par de llamaradas de fuego corriendo por las manos de (Zalran Efreet), aquí repetí el mismo proceso que para el fondo, pero agregue un par de efectos de capa Shine en naranja y luego amarillo para hacer ver estas flamas mas cercanas a la vista y por supuesto mas vivas; ya por ultimo y como les comente antes para los ojos tenia planeado crear una sutil iluminación para darle un poco más de epicidad al personaje, en esta caso con aerógrafo ilumine los ojos como si estos estuviesen también ardiendo con el fuego.
