Hey there!
Hivers and Splinterlands community!
I'm here once again, excited to showcase my latest art piece. The splinter character I chose to depict is named Lorna Shine. So here's the deal about this one that I've got to share today, a tale of forgetfulness and a dash of inspiration. So, I'm always excited for the weekly contest because I am eager to unleash my creativity. But, there have been weeks where I lose track of what day it is like this one and I almost missed the whole Here's the finished piece
Here's the finished piece
Picture this: Yesterday, I realised it was Thursday not Wednesday. Panic mode activated!(exaggerating) Now, I had to create something good ASAP.
With minutes ticking away, I scoured my mind for a quick idea. I needed something simple, something I could start and finish with the time I had for art, Then it hit me – a chibi illustration! A Chibi design would be just the ticket, and it wouldn't require hours of brainstorming.
I grabbed my pad, and started sketching. And you know what? The initial sketch came out pretty decently. I was on track to meet the submissions.
But here's where the plot twist comes in. As I started the lineart, I couldn't help but feel like I was doing a disservice to the subject. You see, the reference I was using was a beautifully detailed Lorna Shine, captured in 'Shiningness'.
The more I looked at the reference, the more I realized that a rushed job wouldn't do justice to the subject or the contest. This would not do at all. The thought gnawed at me – I had an opportunity here to create something truly special.
So, I took a deep breath, paused the race against the clock, and decided to put in the effort by shifting to a full figure design. By and by, I think I was able to create something fair enough to the challenge. Not insult to my chibi coz I intend to finish her next week for week 259
