A green paradise

Greetings dear friends.
I am glad to be with you once again, Friends this week I bring you what according to my criteria is one of my favorite works, when I just started in the contest about two years ago I drew this character and I remember that I lost the work I had by a mistake and it really cost me to finish it, even so I was able to complete it.
Comparing with that time, I feel that I have improved a lot since those days.
The character Spirit of the Forest in a very lush forest, I really invested a lot of time to achieve what I wanted to get, I was looking for a harmony between the character and the background, that this would be well integrated into the forest.
I also used a lot of layers to achieve some depth, anyway enough of introduction, let's see how was the process friends!

Saludos apreciados amigos.
Me alegra estar con ustedes una vez mas, Amigos esta semana les traigo lo que según mi criterio es de mis obras favoritas, cuando recién empecé en el concurso hace unos dos años dibuje este personaje y recuerdo que perdí el trabajo que tenía por un error y realmente me costó terminarlo, aun así pude completarlo.
Comparando con aquel entonces, siento que mejore muchísimo desde esos días.
El personaje Spirit of the Forest en un bosque muy frondoso, realmente le invertí mucho tiempo para lograr lo que quería conseguir, estaba buscando una armonía entre el personaje y el fondo, que este se integrara bien en el bosque.
También use una buena cantidad de capas para lograr cierta profundidad, en fin basta de introducción, veamos como fue el proceso amigos!

Process/Proceso
We start the sketch with the basic shape, this drawing will be a portrait but not so easy because it will have many details.
As a second step we create the sketch using red color, in this step we can leave the idea of all the details that the drawing will have.
As a final step we make the lineart only in certain zones of the drawing even though the sketch is there to guide us later.
Iniciamos el boceto con la forma básica, este dibujo será un retrato pero no tan fácil pues llevara muchos detalles.
Como segundo paso creamos el boceto usando color rojo, en este paso podemos dejar la idea de todos los detalles que tendrá el dibujo.
Como paso final hacemos el lineart solo en ciertas zonas del dibujo aun asi el boceto esta para guiarnos mas adelante.
We apply the base color, this step takes time despite not having major complications to explain is one of the most time consuming steps.
In the color palette I used one of my own criteria taking into account that I had to add a forest and that it had to be in harmony with the character.
Aplicamos el color base, este paso lleva tiempo a pesar de no tener grandes complicaciones que explicar es uno de los pasos que mas tiempo requiere.
En la paleta de color use una a mi criterio teniendo en cuenta que debía agregar un bosque y que este tuviera armonía con el personaje.
For the background we will use several layers, the first one as you can see is very soft colors and a light source.
Then we add trees in other layers, before blurring those layers we give light and shadow.
We repeat these steps at our discretion, adding more details that add up.
In the lower part we will not add details yet because I plan to cover that area with vegetation but in a second layer.
Para el fondo usaremos varias capas, la primera como pueden ver son colores muy suaves y una fuente de luz.
Luego agregamos árboles en otras capas, antes de difuminar esas capas damos luz y sombra.
Repetimos esos pasos a criterio, agregamos más detalles que van sumando.
En la parte baja aún no agregaremos detalles, pues tengo pensado tapar esa zona con vegetación pero en una capa sobre todas las demas incluyendo las que usare en el personaje.
After finishing the background details "which took me a long time" I can start giving very subtle shadows to the character's skin.
I applied a little blush, I wasn't sure about doing that because the skin tone is green and I felt it could look a little weird with the red color, but I liked the result.
Al terminar los detalles del fondo "lo cual me tomo mucho tiempo" puedo empezar a darle sombras muy sutiles a la piel del personaje.
le apliqué un pequeño sonrojado, no estaba seguro de hacer eso pues el tono de piel es verde y sentía que se podía ver algo raro con el color rojo, aun asi el resultado me gusto.
when the shadows are finished it is time to give more relief with strong and soft lights.
We do the same with the clothes following the same logic of the skin lights.
I also added small details of texture and lines simulating textures of the fabric.
al terminar con las sombras es momento de darle mas relieve con luces fuertes y suaves.
Hacemos lo mismo con la ropa siguiendo la misma lógica de las luces de la piel.
También agregué pequeños detalles de textura y líneas simulando texturas de la tela.
We continue with the hair and other areas, as you can notice all of that respecting the main light source.
I also made light spots without much shape to simulate the light coming down between the leaves of the trees.
Seguimos con el cabello y otras zonas, como pueden notar todo eso respetando la fuente de luz principal.
También hice manchas de luz sin mucha forma para simular la luz que baja entre las hojas de los árboles.
As final details we create the eyes, they are the most important part here we can see the big change once completed.
I remembered that her eyes are slanted like a cat's, I got a way that they look tender and attached to the reference.
Also using several layers we create vegetation to cover and blend the bottom part of the character with the whole environment, it is important to use similar colors so that it has harmony.
Como detalles finales creamos los ojos, son la parte mas importante aqui podemos ver el gran cambio una vez completados.
Recordé que sus ojos son rasgados como de gato, conseguí una forma que se vieran tiernos y apegados a la referencia.
También usando varias capas creamos vegetación para tapar y fundir la parte de abajo del personaje con todo el entorno, es importante usar colores similares para que este tenga armonía.
To finish we corrected some lights, added small particles in the background which we blurred to look like falling leaves.
oh there are also lights and details that I corrected at this point before finishing, I wanted to take a good time to look and correct before finishing.
Para finalizar corregimos algunas luces, agregamos pequeñas partículas en el fondo las cuales difuminamos para que parezcan hojas cayendo.
oh también hay luces y detalles que corregí en este punto antes de finalizar, quería tomarme un buen tiempo para mirar y corregir antes de terminar.
