This video has been run through a neural network to produce a stylized representation of what the very deep convolutional network sees. I trained it on some stained glass and the outcome was painting each frame with what the network interprets. To compute 20 minutes of video took over 12 hours, plus time to merge the frames back together to make a movie.
Fort mountain is a State Park located Chatsworth and Ellijay, Georgia. I have visited in the past, but this time I came with my camera and plans of completely changing how this location is observed through "computer vision".
Before arriving at the gates of the state park, I pull over and get some video of the long mountain road heading up to the location. My truck also needed to cool down a little so was a good time to stop and get some shots.
Upon entering the park my first stop was at the Cool Springs Overlook, the first thing that stuck out about this video is how the text is mostly left alone. Seems like the network is trained to pick up on text not to stylize it.
Turning around we can see one of the roads going through the Fort Mountain State Park.
Looking up at the trees give them an unusual appearance, with colors added by the stained glass which the network was trained on.
One of the signs by the cool springs overlook. I hope to hike the whole 8 miles one day.
As I approach the overlook more signs guide me along the way.
Opening up through the trees is the massive view across many miles. Nothing but rolling mountains covered in trees.
Walking up to the overlook we can see many of the ridges appearing in the video.
I pan across the landscape and just take it all in.
Walking back I cross over to another trail that connects this overlook to the trail I came walking in on.
I explore this trail for a few steps but turn back, and we see the structure by the overlook.
Blazes mark the trees guiding me back to where I started.
The way the bark was stylized gives it a unique appearance.
Walking through the dense forest, I can see birds circling overhead.

Following the signs we make our way to the Stone Wall Tower.
Many areas in this State Park that has information about the areas.
A mystery shrouds Fort Mountain, a mystery who build a wall dating back before the Cherokee in the area even settled.
Making my way half way up the trail to the tower I stop and check out another sign.
I believe these rocks is all that still stands of the ancient stone wall, its makers unknown to this day.

Before moving along we check out some more of the signs.
I came across an ant carrying a beetle along the trail.
As I get close to the tower, I appreciate all the stone work on each side of the trail that guides me to the tower.
Seeing an opening up ahead the tower is near.
A sign explaining its origin and who has fixed it up over the years.
I check out the structure but its all locked up. I can only walk up to the second level.
Wild blackberries were spotted growing by the tower.
I see a bird fly over and slowly ride the air currents above, the sun can be seen as well with the tree tops.
As I walked around the towers second floor I find some knife carvings into the hand railings.
Wonder how old these are, being etched in its hard to say.
Heading over to the lake, I see a communications tower off in the distance. Looks so alien.

A old tree thats falling apart, with some large holes made in it.
My last stop at the end of the trail is a beach on the lake, many people having fun out in the water.
