In the world of crypto, one of the most iconic battles is the eternal push and pull between the bull and the bear. But what if we imagined it from an animalistic point of view—two creatures, both primal and powerful, forced to co-exist in the digital wild? That’s the energy that inspired this piece.
In this artwork, I reimagine the bull and the bear not just as market symbols, but as living, breathing forces of nature. Wild, stubborn, and naturally opposed—yet strangely tethered together by the chaotic beauty of the crypto market. If not for this space called crypto, they wouldn’t be shaking hands—they’d be at each other’s throats.
🔸 # The Process: A Six-Stage Evolution
Stage One: I began by sketching the bull and bear in a rare moment—shaking hands. This symbolizes the constant dance of power in crypto: one rises, the other falls, yet neither exists without the other. I used a custom brush I created in Adobe Illustrator, giving the outlines a gritty, organic flow to echo the roughness of their rivalry.
Stage Two: With the structure in place, I moved into coloring using the Pen Tool. This stage was about grounding the animals in cartoonish, not overly symbolic. Each curve, each segment of color was placed with care to represent not just the animals, but tension and energy.
Stage Three: Then came the shadows—where depth met drama. I built the shadows entirely with the Pen Tool as well, beginning with pure black shapes, then lowering their opacity to blend seamlessly into the bodies. This approach made the lighting feel believable while keeping the drama alive in their forms.
Stage Four: I added comic-style thought bubbles—the moment where their civility cracks. This was a fun but crucial step: giving them internal voices, private monologues of suppressed aggression. These are not friends. These are rivals forced to be civilized because of the market rules.
Stage Five: I filled in their thoughts—gritted words and quiet threats. The comic energy captures the way traders and communities swing between optimism and despair—mirrored in these beasts of trade.
Stage Six: Finally, I changed the background—a digital terrain that reflects both tech and tension - The candles in a chart. It's abstract, yet emotionally charged, designed to hold the bull and bear in uneasy balance, like how crypto keeps volatility and value in one volatile loop.
This work is a personal reflection on how the crypto world takes two natural enemies and puts them in a room together—not to kill each other, but to play a game with rules neither of them wrote.
It's a reminder that what we see on charts—bull runs and bear dips—is driven by deeper instincts, emotions, and forces. But even chaos can have structure, even enemies can share a frame... when the blockchain calls the shots.
