Hello everyone, I'm Byron and I draw a lot of zombies and skulls. I can't seem to stop even though a lot of people tell me I should do other things. Cute things. Things that make you go AWWWWWWW
Like this cat for example.
This cat painting was drawn for a dude that is holding a charity fundraising event for sick kids. I do these kind of images from time to time, but in the end I come back to the undead because that's what I enjoy the most.
A few months ago I started to paint up a page with skulls. At first it was just a bunch of lines and splattered paint, but after a bit of work I managed to create 8 interesting skull paintings. It took about 2 months from start to finish.
Lets break down each image and give each of the eight skulls a name
This is Blues Clueless and I named it this because I was clueless about what I was going to create and this blue hued clueless looking skull started it all.
Red Doubter came next, which is fitting because I often have moments of self doubt and fear when I create my artwork. That feeling is not as strong as it used to be, but it's still there.
This is Yellow Clarity and is named thusly because once the initial fear is gone, things seem to be clearer. This applies more today than it has in a long time and even though the pathway is clear, it's still very scary right now.
Next up is Green Clarity and this is just a nice smooth continuation of the previous. Things are going smooth, I'm in the groove and cutting loose.
As I said, this image took a few months to complete. After those first 4 skulls were done and minted on DRiPhaus I compiled them into this image.
Then some other things distracted me for a while and the painting was left unfinished for a few weeks. Once I circled around to it again I started filling in the next 4 skulls. Luckily I had enough fleshed out to be able to easily resume the painting and pick up from where I left off.
It started again with Crimson Confusion. Named mostly because it's quite red and I like to use alliteration whenever I can. Call me a wacky weirdo but that's what I do.
This one is called Condemned. It's one of the only skulls with a 1 word title. I'm only just noticing a tendency to have my skulls slanted to the right. Maybe it's dynamic?
Sunset Upset is the next skull to get completed. It's the only side facing skull of the bunch and the name was given because it's so yellow.
This last image is quite possibly my favourite of the bunch because it looks surprized, astonished and very close up to the viewer. Those big orange circle eyes really draw me in. Not sure how you feel about it. :)
Like last time, I compiled all 4 of these last skulls into a single image too.
So that's 8 different skull paintings on 1 sheet of paper. I really do enjoy painting skulls and creepy things because it's a cathartic release and it doesn't really matter if I get things wrong or if it looks weird. I made it for me to share with you.
For those wondering what kind of tools I use to create my arts, I am old school and use ink pens, watercolour paint and some gel pens for the highlights. After that I digitize my work and bring it into photoshop for some colour enhancements, but not much else.
I don't use A.i.
This is the final fully finished full page painting of all 8 skulls.
I like it. It tells me a small story about how I created it all and how life seems to go for me. A clueless start that shifts over to fear and doubts. After some time the doubts fade and the groove is found but the fear is always there, just under the surface. Finally when it's all done I can look back at what I did while pondering the next clueless thing I am about to do.
Maybe it's just me being weird today, but that's my thought process sometimes.
