Hello to all digital art lovers!

I'm very excited to share with you my latest creation: the fanart of "Runemancer Kye" for the Splinterlands art contest! As you know, the selected character was a beautiful mermaid and I decided to give her my own humanoid adaptation, which allowed me to explore new techniques and perspectives in my creation process.

To begin with, I was inspired by the magic and mythology of mermaids, which allowed me to create a more human and realistic version of Kye. The basis of the illustration was done in Procreate, a software that allows me to work more intuitively and create more detailed effects. I started with an initial sketch and then added layers to create shadows, lights and details.

One of the most interesting aspects of this project was the choice of colors. I made sure to select purple tones, like the one present in the original character, to be a bit more faithful to the reference.

As for the design, I focused on creating a strong and confident female character. Kye's gaze is intense and defiant, making her a unique and powerful heroine. I also wanted to reference her aquatic origin, adding elements such as the fish scales that are visible on part of her body.

Overall, I am very happy with the final result of my "Runemancer Kye" fanart. I hope I managed to capture the essence of this iconic character and add my own personal touch to the illustration. I wish all participants good luck and hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed creating it!

¡Hola a todos los amantes del arte digital!

Estoy muy emocionado de compartir con ustedes mi última creación: ¡el fanart de "Runemancer Kye" para el concurso de arte de Splinterlands! Como saben, el personaje seleccionado fue una hermosa sirena y decidí darle mi propia adaptación humanoide, lo que me permitió explorar nuevas técnicas y perspectivas en mi proceso de creación.

Para comenzar, me inspiré en la magia y la mitología de las sirenas, lo que me permitió crear una versión más humana y realista de Kye. La base de la ilustración se realizó en Procreate, un software que me permite trabajar de manera más intuitiva y crear efectos más detallados. Comencé con un boceto inicial y luego fui agregando capas para crear sombras, luces y detalles.

Uno de los aspectos más interesantes de este proyecto fue la elección de los colores. Me aseguré de seleccionar tonos violetas, como el presente en el personaje original, para ser un poco más fiel a la referencia.

En cuanto al diseño, me enfocé en crear un personaje femenino fuerte y confiado. La mirada de Kye es intensa y desafiante, lo que la convierte en una heroína única y poderosa. También quise hacer referencia a su origen acuático, agregando elementos como las escamas de pez que se aprecian en parte de su cuerpo.

En general, estoy muy contento con el resultado final de mi fanart de "Runemancer Kye". Espero haber logrado capturar la esencia de este personaje icónico y agregar mi propio toque personal a la ilustración. ¡Les deseo a todos los participantes buena suerte y espero que disfruten de mi trabajo tanto como yo disfruté creándolo!

Drawing development / Desarrollo ✏️

As a siren, Azura Kye loves spending her days in the sky and her nights deep beneath the waves. She is a third-generation Riftwatcher who grew up listening to her grandparent’s stories of the Chaos Legion’s invasion of their homeworld, Lemell.

Como sirena, a Azura Kye le encanta pasar los días en el cielo y las noches bajo las olas. Es una Riftwatcher de tercera generación que creció escuchando las historias de sus abuelos sobre la invasión de su mundo natal, Lemell, por parte de la Legión del Caos.

To start, I began by making some sketches on paper to explore different poses and compositions for the character. Once I had a clear idea of what I wanted, I transferred the final sketch to my tablet and imported it into my digital art software, Procreate.

From there, I began working on the image in separate layers, drawing the skin, clothing, hair and wings on each, which allowed me to make changes without affecting other parts of the drawing. I used shades of purple colors to reference the original character, but keeping the humanized style I wanted to achieve.

Once I was satisfied with the basic shape of the character, I began to add more complex details, such as skin texture and fish scales. To do this, I used different brushes and texture tools in Procreate to create realistic and detailed effects.

Para empezar, comencé realizando algunos bocetos en papel para explorar diferentes poses y composiciones para el personaje. Una vez que tuve una idea clara de lo que quería, trasladé el boceto final a mi tablet y lo importé a mi software de arte digital, Procreate.

Desde allí, comencé a trabajar en la imagen en capas separadas, dibujando la piel, vestimenta, cabello y alas en cada una, lo que me permitió hacer cambios sin afectar otras partes del dibujo. Use tonos de colores violetas para hacer referencia al personaje original, pero manteniendo el estilo humanizado que quería lograr.

Una vez que estuve satisfecho con la forma básica del personaje, comencé a agregar detalles más complejos, como la textura de la piel y las escamas de pez. Para hacer esto, utilicé diferentes pinceles y herramientas de textura en Procreate para crear efectos realistas y detallados.

Next, I worked on the highlights and shadows of the image, creating contrast and depth to make the character look more three-dimensional. For this I usually use the blending methods add to add highlights and multiply for the shadows, each one applied in different layers to slowly increase the contrast.

Finally, I added some magical details to give a touch of fantasy to the illustration. I used different brushes and effects to create flashes of light and glitter in the image, which makes the character look more mystical and powerful.

Overall, the process of creating the "Runemancer Kye" fanart was very fun and exciting for me. I hope I captured the essence of the character and added my own personal touch to the illustration. Thanks for reading about my creation process!

Después, trabajé en las luces y sombras de la imagen, creando un contraste y profundidad para hacer que el personaje pareciera más tridimensional. Para esto suelo usar los métodos de mezcla añadir para agregar brillos y multiplicar para las sombras, cada una las voy aplicando en diferentes capas para ir aumentando el contraste lentamente.

Finalmente, agregué algunos detalles mágicos para darle un toque de fantasía a la ilustración. Utilicé diferentes pinceles y efectos para crear destellos de luz y brillo en la imagen, lo que hace que el personaje parezca más místico y poderoso.

En general, el proceso de creación del fanart de "Runemancer Kye" fue muy divertido y emocionante para mí. Espero haber capturado la esencia del personaje y haber agregado mi propio toque personal a la ilustración. ¡Gracias por leer sobre mi proceso de creación!
