I posted a bunch of pics of Tokyo DisneySea yesterday, so here's the rest!
Getting the tickets in the first place was a pain in the dick. Disney is incredibly racist. They won't let you buy tickets online unless you are Japanese and your Disney account says you live in Japan. And you can't buy tickets at the gate. So how do you buy tickets? You go to the photocopier at any 7-Eleven and buy them there. In Japanese. And you need to put your name and a phone number down. A Japanese phone number. It's a good thing I knew katakana, because getting this thing to work was a bit of an exercise. But we got our tickets, and we made it to Tokyo DisneySea!
When you first walk into the park, there's this giant globe fountain in the middle of the entrance. We got a group shot to start our trip!
The first ride we took was the Tower of Terror. Yep, it's still here, despite the ride being demolished and replaced with a Guardians of the Galaxy ride. It was fun checking it out, and hearing the people talking Japanese.
The line leading into the Tower of Terror was full of different curiosities collected by the owner of the hotel. The sarcophagus is one of them! That Rajah's Pool poster was on the way out. It reminded me of Ra's Al'Ghul's Lazarus Pits in Wonder City.
We rode several other rides, but the most memorable is an animatronic water ride based on the adventures of Sindbad. When I first went into this rude years ago, I didn't know what to expect. I figured it'd be a simple, boring, water ride, and I'd get out of the heat. What I got was a catchy song, actually good animatronics, and an overall enjoyable experience. If you go to Tokyo DisneySea, you owe it to yourself to check out Sindbad's animated adventures.
One thing that was most fascinating to me was the attention to one member of my group. My friend Bob has cerebral parlay. It's not super noticable, but if you know what to look for, you can spot it. I cannot tell you the number of times the staff offered various accommodations, especially elevator access in and out of rides. We didn't even request an accessibility ticket for him, either! It's a welcome effort compared to what we would have expected at a Disney resort in America. 10/10 would recommend.
The trip was fun, I just wish it wasn't so differently difficult!
