Ten days ago I shared a drawing — a cottage in a forest — as part of a new series of artwork!
As mentioned in that post, I haven't drawn for a good twenty or so years and I'm really enjoying being artistic once more. I tried getting into digital art a year or two ago but it just wasn't the same as pencil-on-paper and that artistic streak didn't last very long; I didn't really enjoy that style of art creation.

I'm following a combination of challenges from Ellolovey on Instagram: merging her January and February prompts together.
In this case, the prompts are: Frog and Crystals.
And I started with a sketch of a froggy.

Once I had a frog-shaped creature in the middle of the page, I surrounded it with makeshift crystals.

I then tried to make the frog a bit more cutesy... I struggled a bit with its body, but you know, that's fixed by covering it with grass and more crystals! XD

Once I was happy with the general appearance and placement of the frog and crystals, I grabbed out my ruler and fineliner and started going over some lines, erasing as I went.

Finally, it was fully inked in!
I've decided that I need to get another "fine-liner", too; just, once that's not so fine. The one that I use is a 0.4, but I'm thinking I need one that's slightly thicker to make colouring large areas of black a little easier.

I'm absolutely rubbish at shading, but I kind of like the look of "sketchy" outlines even though that goes against the entire point of using a fine-liner to ink in a proper outline.
What are your thoughts? Clean lines or scruffy lines?
Anywho. That's my frog and crystals!! The next joint prompt that I'll be doing is sweet and moth so my first thought is a moth licking a lollipop. 😅 We'll see how it goes!
Until next time!! 😊🐸✨
