There are very good roads in Slovakia. Not like in Germany or Austria, but still. Compared to the roads of Ukraine in the Slovak Republic, the road surface is perfect. But that's not the point. That's right, the beginning of a difficult story. Preface in one word. So here it is. On such beautiful roads you can safely drive (following the speed limit) and not be afraid that a pit will suddenly appear in front of your car. I will want to note something. There are many animals in the Slovak Republic: hares, deer, deer, pheasants, partridges and many others. All these animals walk along the roads in complete peace. Especially a lot of hares and deer. Driving along the roads of the country you will be able to see whole herds on almost every field. And you have to be very careful at night. Of course, not everything depends on the driver. But you must monitor the proper condition of the headlights and personal safety (be sure to use seat belts). Over the past month, we have witnessed two unpleasant adventures. We were participants in one of them.
В Словакії дуже гарні дороги. Не такі, як в Германії чи в Австрії але все ж таки. В порівнянні з дорогами України в Словацькій республіці бездоганне дорожнє покриття. Та річ не про це. Це так, початок тяжкої розповіді. Передмова одним словом. Так ось. По таким гарним дорогам спокійно можна їздити ( дотримуючись швидкісного режиму) і не боятися, що перед твоєю автівкою зненацька з'явиться яма. Ще хочу дещо зауважити. В Словацькій республіці дуже багато звірів: зайці, лані, олені, фазани, куропатки та багато інших. Всі ці звірі абсолютно спокійно вигулюються вздовж доріг. Особливо багато зайців та оленів. Проїжджаючи дорогами країни ви майже на кожному полі зможете побачити цілі стада. А ще ви повинні бути дуже обережними в нічний час. Звісно, що не все залежить від водія. Але треба слідкувати за належним станом світла фар та особистою безпекою (обов'язково використовувати ремені безпеки). Протягом останнього місяця ми стали свідками двох пригод. В одній з них ми були учасниками.
That day we returned from work late at night. We drove almost half way, as suddenly a huge hare jumped out in front of our car. A collision was inevitable. The hare died immediately, and our car lost half the bumper. We immediately turned to the police, because this was the first time such a situation had occurred in Europe and we simply did not know what to do. First of all, we had to make sure that the beast was dead and drag it to the side of the road. Secondly, my husband immediately passed an alcohol test. It was a pity for the hare. But it happened. By the way, there are a lot of beaten hares and deer.
В той день ми поверталися з роботи вже пізньої ночі. Ми проїхали майже половину шляху, як зненацька перед нашим автомобілем вискочив здоровенний заяць. Зіткнення було неминуче. Заяць помер відразу, а наша машина втратила половину бампера. Ми відразу звернулися до поліції, бо така ситуація в Європі в нас сталася вперше і ми просто не знали що нам робити. Перш за все нам треба було впевнетись, що звір мертвий і відтягнути його на узбіччя дороги. По друге, мій чоловік відразу пройшов тест на алкоголь. Дуже було шкода зайця. Але так склалося. Доречі, збитих зайців та оленів дуже багато.
Друга пригода./Another adventure.
Last Friday we went home again late at night. We were almost halfway again when my husband told me that he had just seen two people pulling something along the side of the road. Situations are different. We thought at first that a man had been beaten. We decided to turn around and make sure everything was in order. And passing through that place we saw a deer. He was still alive but we understood that he would not live long. Another car stopped with us. The deer had terrible convulsions and he tried to push off and crawl on the road. I will not describe the condition of the animal, because it was horrible. My wife and I kept a deer until the police arrived. Police said a hunter could shoot a deer. But it was already the first hour of the night. One hunter could not be reached. It's been almost an hour. When they tried to summon another hunter, the young beast died.
В минулу п'ятницю ми знов їхали додому пізно вночі. Ми знову проїхали майже половину шляху, як мій чоловік мені сказав, що нібито тільки що бачив, як двоє людей щось тягнули за ноги вздовж узбіччя дороги. Ситуації бувають різні. Ми подумали спочатку, що то збили людину. Ми вирішили розвернутися і впевнитися, що все в порядку. Та проїжджаючи крізь те місце ми побачили оленя. Він ще був живий але ми розуміли, що він ще не довго буде жити. Разом з нами зупинилася ще одна машина. В оленя були страшні судороги і він намагався відштовхнутися і виповзти на дорогу. Я не буду описувати стан тварини, бо це було жахливо. Ми з іншою жінкою тримали оленя до приїзду поліції. Поліція повідомила, що пристрелити оленя може мисливець. Але була вже перша година ночі. До одного мисливця не змогли додзвонитися. Це вже пройшла майже година. Коли намагалися викликати іншого мисливця, то молодий звір помер.
This situation angered me. Couldn't the people who knocked down the beast and dragged it by the paws call the police, hunters, and veterinarians? They also saw that the animal was still alive and suffering terribly. What made them do that to the deer? The beast could not help himself. Those people would have nothing for it. Just had to stay in the last minutes with a little deer. Call all services that would be possible to alleviate the suffering of the beast. I'm talking about humanity now. You need to be not only responsible for your actions. You have to have a good heart.
Ця ситуація мене розгнівала. Невже ті люди, які збили звіра і тягнули його за лапи, не могли викликати поліцію, мисливців, ветеринарів? Вони ж бачили, що тварина ще жива і страшенно мучається. Що змусило їх так вчинити з оленем? Звір сам собі не міг допомогти. Тим людям би нічого за це не було. Просто треба було залишитися в останні хвилини з маленьким оленем. Викликати всі служби які б тільки можна було, щоб полегшити страждання звіра. Я зараз кажу про людяність. Треба бути не тільки відповідальним за свої вчинки. Треба ще сати добре серце.
