Producing your own healthy and nutritious cornmeal by grinding corn at home. The oil contained in germs of your home ground corn might be a major contributor to its taste. The store-bought commercial grinders who sell ground corn meal on the other hand remove the germ to prolong the shelf life of their produce. You have the chance to do away with chemical pesticides, preservatives, and additives when growing your own corn to produce an organice product. Sweet corn should not be used and the flint or dent shelled corn must be adopted. Test your taste buds with other forms corn e.g. purple variety. Drop the shelled and (Grind the Corn) into the hopped feed at the top part of a manual mill. Crank to grind the corn. With this technique, a coarse meal is generated in two cups for every five minutes of cranking. Use a food processor, heavy duty blenders or an electric coffee mill to grind small amounts of corn at a time. Add some corn to it in little amounts. Pulse mode for grinding. If you grind constantly running in high speed this will heat up the maize meal and make it taste burnt. Put in the hopper of the electric commercial grinding mill a large amount of shelled corn to grind the larger quantities. Turn the mill on. Dump the ground corn from the collection bin.
