There are a myriad of note worthy guides or at the very least descriptions on what good writers do to prepare for a post here on #hive. They list from articles that span thousands of words describing the minute process from drafts to idea bubbles to any host of great techniques.
This is not one of those posts. In fact here I will tell you my secret in my creative process. In fact I apply this to everything that I pretty much do. Whether I am doing it at work or drawing something to even creating a sword stand. Yes I did that once.
Where to begin?
This thought runs in my head when I first think about creating anything. Mind you I stand firmly when I say I am not a content creator. I am a consumer. I consume my time all the time. This is not that post.
The process.
I wake up, roll to the side of the bed and stretch out my back until I hear a crack . By that time I am up and out of my room. Before anything else I boil water on my kettle and drink three full glass of warm water. Not much, just one and a half liter of warm water.
You are probably wondering by now. Hey this is not a creative process, this is just a description of this guys morning. Bare with me because in each of my steps here I have already come up with an idea in my head. The first sight that comes into my eyes determines the subject matter I am going to write or make. You see the minds eye is a powerful thing. The subconscious I believe allows you to do things in the background while you are actively doing this in your conscious self.
The trick here is to listen to it. Now Albert Einstein was known to have had a notebook to jut things down when he had a brief inkling of an idea. These normally occurred when he was half drowsy from his afternoon naps or just about to drift to sleep at night. I don't do that. There is no greater challenge than to give my mind the agony of torture by having to get it to remember what I thought of the when I was half asleep to begin with. Self inflicted pain is well worth the time especially when you get to experience them daily.
Again you are wondering to yourself, How is this related to a conducive creative process?. Well by the time you have challenged your mind to remember, if it can do it, you would've in the process also provided your conscious mind the dots to connect that idea into a cohesive structure. The minds eye is a powerful tool if you train it well. The conscious and the subconscious are two states of mind. The trick is to teach them to work together on demand.
After turning on the computer I immediately sit in front of the screen and start reading the news, or watching YouTube videos or go into my hive feed to see what all you beautiful people are doing. Mind you by this time I have formulated something. Saved. In my neuron connected hard drive. The question now is to access the network and dig out the substance that would eventually become a thing of beauty.

I mean it is in the eye of the beholder and that thing is a beauty. Rough on the edges but slick and practical in every conceivable way.
By the time I have had my fill in front of my screen my bodily functions have started to kick in so I am having to visit the loo for a period of time. Now this is the most important part of the creative process. You see as I am stuck in there I have to have something to do. With no outlet I am left to my own inner devices. My brain is now firing at a million kilojoules of energy coursing though the neuron network looking for, accessing data and formulating all the conceivable ways a post should be.
With that out of the way I am now free to go back into the real manual process. In this case we are going on about the writing process so I fire up the pencil icon
and really get down to the nitty gritty of things.
Of course by this time I am always reminded of the Sean Connery movie where he plays an old price winning writer mentoring a young black kid. They form a bond and the one lesson that really has stuck to me is when he gives that kid a typewriter and just tells him to type away. Nothing in particular or something very specific, ignoring any typing errors or even ignoring none sensical ideas they have typed about. Let the juices flow out of you. let your mind run free without any constraints into what it is the subconscious wants to express. Mind you I am in the thick of things from here. My fingers are busier than walking on a Yellow Pages book. Those where thick books back in the day.
Now where are the drafts? Where are the proof reading. Where are the well thought of plans that are easily turned to when you lose your thought. Well when you write if you forget something, it probably means it was not that important and does not deserve to find a place in your work. Key thing to note here, this is not content, this is a consumption of your and mine's time.
The act of dong this post has resulted in a thousand virgins in heavy being deflowered by a hyper imaginative writer.
Rest assured no animals were injured, unless of course you count me as an animal and the torture I have just inflicted on myself as pain and suffering then yes. An animal was injured. On your behalf.
Thanks for your time. Hope you have learned a valuable lesson. If not then at least you have now delved into my soul and you know too much then it means I am probably on a plane on my way to you. Or you have just enjoyed your time immensely and are privy to giving this post an upvote.
Thanks for your time
