In a time when everything can be a digital asset, it comes as no shock that we have tokens such as LettuceCoin—a cryptocurrency that says it is "financially crisp" and "greener than your wallet."
Initially, LettuceCoin was a joke on Discord. Somebody then made a logo: an image of a lettuce with sunglasses. Then the smart contract was made. Next thing, boom—$LETTUCE was taking over Twitter. Its price had gone up 300% overnight. People began discussing a "vegetable revolution on the blockchain."
The official motto? “Stake your greens. Harvest the moon.”
Funny? Yes. Obvious? Yes. Make sense? None whatsoever. But that's the world of crypto: sometimes the coins with no value are the ones that yield the most gain… and panic.
Behind all of this, a person purchased LettuceCoin for 0.005 ETH and sold it for 0.00000001 ETH.
He told me, "I invested because the logo was cute." He also stated, "I'm eating real lettuce now because I can't afford anything else."
And maybe that's the real definition of sacrifice the lettuce: we discover that not all that's green is cool. Occasionally, it's simply a vegetable covered in FOMO and grilled by an influencer who doesn't get blockchain.
So the next time you encounter a new token that purports to be "fresh from the farm" and "anti-inflation because it grows itself," keep one thing in mind:
Just because it appears green does not indicate that your wallet will sprout with it.
Sacrifice the lettuce. Save your logic.
