I just found out about this challenge in the explore feed, and want to try it out:
New Year Cherub

Cherubs come in different sizes, shapes and forms. They also a different colors and position.
This was one of the first Cherubs I found, when searching for it. It could be found in Munich, the capital of the German state of Bavaria in the south of Germany. It is fighting a dragon in form of a chicken. This is probably a tribute to Saint George the Dragon Slayer. It looks strong and has some armor, since it is fighting a dangerous beast.

This is a complete different cherub. It is quite sweet and holding a bird in its hand. It is different in size and color and has not a lot in common with the first cherub. But still they share being of the same "species". This one can be bought and placed in ones own garden.

Those two are some of the famous paintings of Raffael. They look a little dreamy and not too focused. Different to the both above they are on a painting in color. In the background you can find clouds, since this is a common depiction of heaven, that is imagined as the sky.
Those are only a few examples of different cherubs. They can be as different as humans can be. And most of them are inspired by humans. Usually they look more like children, but some of them are formed after adults.

As humans they also have different expressions, feelings and actions. Those two look like they are in love. If you would take away their wings, they could be children. And it is quite likely, that the creator used children as model.

This one is a sleeping one on other image. Again this could just be a sleeping girl as well.

Sometimes they are even used as advertisement, as in this french poster.

Many of them can be found in churches or chapels, since they are depictions of angels.

Especially baroque churches do have many cherubs. Those little angels are one of the many expressions the people of those times had to connect to eternity. Those statues told wonderful and fascinating stories and can help people to connect to the transedent world. And finally they can connect to their Creator and Savior.
Hope you enjoyed my small trip into the world of cherubs and angels.
Cheers,
