First off, Happy Mother's Day to all the great mothers out there. I did talk to my mother today on the phone. I made sure to say Happy Mother's Day immediately because if I didn't I would have to wait much later in the conversation, hehe. She always jumps in with questions to make sure I'm ok. Just another day to her, so she acts no different than any other day. Being a mother is everyday regardless of how old your children are. I love my mother and even though I'm almost 50 she still has the same old motherly concerns for me.
I started the day off making everyone breakfast to kick off the day. Something simple it included scrambled eggs, sausage links, pancakes and toast. Of course I had coffee to accompany it. Afterwards, I took care of the dishes and had to drop my son off at the high school where he to do some clock work for an adult basketball league.
Today I decided to check out a park close by to see what's going on there. The park (Bayliss Park) is located in the middle of the down town area of the city. I heard on the news they having a small fair there to celebrate the city of Council Bluffs, Iowa. I went by there yesterday and it was filled with lots of people. I decided to go today on Mother's Day thinking it wouldn't be busy. I was right there wasn't many people here at all. That's a great thing because I'm not a big fan of crowds.
This park is quite nice. It's usually a popular wedding destination in the fall. I know a few people that have tied the knot here. The best feature here is the water fountain. In the heat of the summer people will sit and wade thier feet in it. Some smaller kids will get wet from the mist and run all around the water fountain. It's a park in the summer where many come wearing thier bathing suits.
It's not a huge area filled with lots of rides. I didn't count but I guess there were about 10 in total. A little for all the ages, from a bounce house to a decent sized merry- go-round. A good time for sure with families with or without kids. There are plenty of tables to sit at and just relax and listen to the music being played. The weather is perfect today. Around 80 F (27 C) slightly cloudy with just a slight wind.
With a fair comes stands where food is sold. This included corn dogs, hot dogs, hamburgers, funnel cakes, cotton candy, and many others. I didn't get any food, I'm sorry I was not hungry. I had a simple lunch at home before visiting here. Now that I think of it I should have gotten a snow cone to go.
With fairs there are also games to win prizes. I believe their were 4 tented areas to play games. Games such as pop the balloons, knock over the bottle, and a few others. I came here to relax a bit and didn't play any games. I guess you could say I was just an observer. It was a good time just watching some having fun.
Well that's it for today. I hope you enjoyed my choice of a place for a good hour of time for myself. Time to pick up some barbecue I got for the family for dinner. Take care and be safe.
